Peace Force Leads Ryan-Trained 2015 Glenlogan Park Stakes Quinella

Sydney’s Gerald Ryan enjoyed the winning Glenlogan Park Stakes 2015 quinella in Brisbane on Doomben 10,000 Day with Peace Force narrowly beating home stablemate Solicit in the fillies-and-mares feature.

The second on the Doomben race card, this year’s $150,000 Group 3 Glenlogan Park Stakes (1350m) feature a final field of 12 with all the money on the in-form I’ve Got The Looks who chased the same hat-trick of Queensland wins Srikandi took out last winter.

Having got caught back and deep however the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained favourite failed to run on and it was Ryan’s fellow Sydney visitors who stole the show.

Last time out it was Street Cry four-year-old Solicit beating home Peace Force first-up when the duo ran one-two in the rescheduled Group 3 Hawkesbury Darley Crown (1300m) at Rosehill on May 9.

Today in Brisbane runner-up in that race, Bernardini five-year-old Peace Force ($8), appreciated the extra 50m distance and was able to get home first on the outside of Solicit ($8) with jockey Timothy Bell taking over for Brenton Avdulla on the winner.

Finishing off the Glenlogan Park Stakes trifecta in a photo for third was then the John Dann-trained Toowoomba roughie Tukiyo ($81) who had been right up on the speed throughout and added excellent value to the first three at her blowout price through

Tukiyo, coming off a fifth to Mr Favulous in the Listed Weetwood Handicap (1200m) back home from May 2, was first out of the gates and led in the early stages from the Tony Pike-trained Kiwi Sancerre who would subsequently fail to finish the race.

Eventually Any Day Will Do went to the front on the outside of Sancerre while Solicit got the gun run on the fence in fourth and then third.

With 500m left to travel as they approached the turn for home Solicit and her hoop Tye Angland fought to get off the fence to challenge.

Peace Force though was finishing very quickly and hit the lead 250m out from the line to fight it out with the fellow Ryan-trained mare and then frank the Hawkesbury Crown form from Sydney in Brisbane on one of the city’s biggest race days.

Last year’s Glenlogan Park Stakes winner Srikandi went on to run third in the $2 million Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap but neither Peace Force nor Solicit are nominated for the Queensland’s richest race.

Other suitable next-up targets then could include the $200,000 Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes (1350m) for fillies and mares held on Stradbroke Handicap Day back at Doomben on June 6 and the $500,000 Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) on the Gold Coast on June 20.

The Dane Ripper Stakes – Tattersall’s Tiara double has been completed twice in as many years by Red Tracer (2013) and then Cosmic Endeavour (2014), both visiting Sydney mares like Ryan’s possible Tiara hopes this Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival.
