It is a sunny day trackside at Flemington today with a top temperature of a cool 20 degrees and no chance of rain.

As of 7:45am (AEST) this morning the Flemington course proper was rated a Good (4) making it a day to back the firm track specialists and stick away from the mudlarks when placing your bets at Ladbrokes.com.au.

Flemington racing kicks off today at 11:45am (AEST) with the $80,000 Victorian Carbine Club Plate (1400m) for the two-year-olds and continues right through until Race 9 at 4:40pm (AEST) with the $80,000 K.A. Morrison Handicap (1700m) closing the card.

The first of the two feature races on the program runs as Race 6 at 2:45pm (AEST) with the sprinters facing off in the $120,000 Listed The Straight Six (1200m).

Three horses come out of the original 13-acceptor field with #5 May’s Dream, #7 Eximius and #12 About Square the scratchings.

Red hot favourite in the latest The Straight Six betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au at an odds-on price of $1.55 and firming is Lumosty.

Robert Smerdon’s Fastnet Rock filly comes off an 1100m win at the track from May 9 where she defeated Pago Rock by an impressive three lengths, and if successful today she could be Brisbane bound for a shot at the $2 million Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1350m) on June 6.

The day’s other black type feature is for the stayers, Flemington’s other two mile race – the $200,000 Listed Andrew Ramsden Stakes (3200m) – running as Race 7 at 3:25pm (AEST).

The Andrew Ramsden Stakes field, which runs as the same track and race number as the iconic $6.2 million Group 1 Melbourne Cup (3200m) on the first Tuesday of November, originally drew 16 final acceptors but #13 Thubiaan and #14 Beliveau both come out.

Betting on Flemington Race 7 this afternoon is a wide open affair with a host of single figure fancies led by the market mover Shoreham ($6.50) with the inside alley.

Remember, for all the best odds across the country this weekend to head to Ladbrokes.com.au and enjoy up to $500 in bonus bets when you quote the code BETBONUS this season as well!
