One of the early feature races on the Doomben line-up for 10,000 Day on Saturday is the Glenlogan Park Stakes 2015 for fillies and mares, betting tips and selections for the set weights plus penalties clash found below.
There are a dozen final acceptors making up the field for the $150,000 Group 3 Glenlogan Park Stakes (1350m), running as Doomben Race 2 at 12:07pm (AEST), with markets at Ladbrokes.com.au led by I’ve Got The Looks ($3.60).
Blake Shinn rides the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Choisir mare who has won her past two on the trot in Queensland taking out the Gold Coast’s Silk Stocking and then the Listed Junamo Stakes (1200m) at Doomben on May 9.
They are the same two races Srikandi, favourite for the Group 1 Doomben 10,000 this weekend, won before making it a hat trick in last year’s Glenlogan Park Stakes and then running third in the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap.
The next best in Glenlogan Park Stakes betting are then the Peter Moody-trained Peron ($4.80) who has two previous wins at the track, market mover Peace Force ($5) coming off a Darley Crown second in Sydney, Gerald Ryan’s Darley Crown winner Solicit ($6.50) and the Chris Waller-trained improver in the field She’s Clean ($7.50).
So will the winner come from one of the single figure hopes or is there value to be found tipping a boilover Glenlogan Park Stakes result this weekend?
#3 She’s Clean ($7.50)
Going for the value bet in the market and have Waller’s Redoute’s Choice six-year-old tipped as the improver to beat. She ran fifth to the favourite in this, I’ve Got The Looks, in the Junamo Stakes at the track first-up last time out and second-up should be fitter and ready to fire. She jumps from barrier six with Hugh Bowman aboard and after finding the line so well late last time out, think she’ll eat up a little more distance and has claims for first prize.
#1 Solicit ($6.50)
Ryan’s last start Group 3 winning four-year-old is yet to race in Queensland but the rescheduled Darley Crown win over 1300m was solid and she did it on a Soft (7), similar to how Brisbane is currently racing. She’s got three wins from five starts over Saturday’s distance and gets every chance to go back-to-back with her gun barrier three draw for jockey Tye Angland.
#2 I’ve Got The Looks ($3.80)
Deserving favourite cannot be excluded from the top three based on her past two Queensland wins. The form is identical to Srikandi last year and if she’s the same class she’ll win. In really excellent form and is the one to beat, but odds are a little short with the barriers her biggest advantage at her past two.
