Boss Thrilled to Partner Scissor Kick in Doomben 10,000

Veteran jockey Glen Boss was inducted into the Australian Racing Hall Of Fame this week, and is confident he is a live chance of posting an 86th-career Group 1 victory aboard classy three-year-old Scissor Kick in Saturday’s Doomben 10,000 (1350m).

Scissor Kick is surprisingly yet to break through for a maiden win at the highest level but has proven he is more than up to the class in open company this season; running fourth in the Group 1 All Aged Stakes (1400m) and fifth in the Group 1 BTC Cup (1200m) most recently.

Allocated the somewhat wide barrier 11, Boss is confident he will be able to find ideal running position early aboard the Redoute’s Choice colt and believes the conditions of the 2015 Doomben 10,000 will play directly into his strengths.

“He’s a very good colt, this bloke and he’s busting to win a good race,” Boss told Racing Ahead.

“I’m pretty happy with the draw because I think I’ve got it pretty well worked out how I want to ride him.

“If I can just get the right sort of run on him, which im pretty confident I can do, I’m pretty confident he’ll run really well.”

Boss is yet to ride a winner in the Doomben 10,000 and believes he is offered his best chance to date of breaking the hoodoo aboard Scissor Kick.

“I haven’t won a 10,000 which I didn’t realise, so it would be nice to cap off what has been a great week for me,” he added.

Posting four wins and two minors through eleven career starts so far, Scissor Kick stamped his claims as one to watch over an impressive Spring Carnival campaign; winning each of his first three starts including both the Listed Rosebud (1200m) and Group 3 Up And Coming Stakes (1300m).

Running a close second to Hallowed Crown in the Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) on September 13th, Scissor Kick again finished just off the pace of Shooting To Win in the Group 2 Stan Fox Stakes (1500m) and returned to the paddock following a luckless run in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m). is currently offering the best 2015 Doomben 10,000 odds, for which Scissor Kick can be taken at a generous quote of $7.50 for success.
