2015 Doomben 10,000 Final Field and Barrier Draw

A talented and capacity field plus one emergency has been confirmed for Saturday’s featured Group 1 Doomben 10,000 (1350m); highlighted by the inclusion of several previous winners at the highest level and some of the Winter Carnival’s most exciting racing prospects.

Srikandi all but ended her chances of a maiden Group 1 win when standing in the gates in the BTC Cup (1200m) a fortnight ago, but is position well for redemption in the 2015 Doomben 10,000 after drawing the ideal barrier 5.

Srikandi was undoubtedly the standout performer of the 2014 Winter Carnrival; winning each of the Listed Silk Stocking (1200m), Listed Juanmo Stakes (1200m) and Group 3 Glenlogan Park Stakes (1350m) on her way to a credible third in the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m).

Having returned this time for first-up success in the Group 2 Victory Stakes (1200m), trainer Ciaron Maher is pleased with the condition of the Dubawi mare leading into the 2015 Doomben 10,000, who has been confirmed to be partnered by Damien Browne once more.

Local favourite Our Boy Malachi maintained a strong enough run for third in the BTC Cup but will need some luck in running on Saturday if to win the Doomben 10,000 from barrier 12.

Posting seventeen wins and two minors over his 20 career starts so far, the Rockhampton Rocket has continued to produce typically impressive results since transferring to the care of Team Hawkes in late 2014; taking out a Rosehill minor over 1100m before repeating the dose in both the Listed Starlight Stakes (1100m) and Listed Razor Sharp Handicap (1200m) over summer.

Returning for success in the Group 3 Hall Mark Stakes (1200m) in what was his only other start prior to the BTC Cup, Our Boy Malachi will be partnered by Tommy Berry on Saturday.

Trainer Chris Waller has been confirmed to launch a two-pronged attack on the 2015 Doomben 10,000 after including Boban (barrier 8) and German import Flamingo Star in the final field.

A three-time Group 1 winner, Boban has been unable to find peak racing condition over his two most recent preparations, but flies fresh and is sure to lay a great account for himself in the Doomben 10,000.

Confirmed to target the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) during the Spring Racing Carnival, Waller was thrilled with a gallop completed by Flamingo Star earlier this week but conceded he is probably only a mid-pack chance this weekend.

Allocated the rails draw, Tye Angland has picked up the ride on the Areion gelding in the Doomben 10,000.

Several talented three-year-old runners have been confirmed in the 2015 Doomben 10,000 final field, including filly Bring Me The Maid.

Stamping her claims as one to watch over a standout two-year-old campaign highlighted by success in the Group 2 Magic Night Stakes (1200m) and a strong third in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m), Bring Me The Maid was unable to make a competitive impact over spring but has returned this time in great order.

Running a close second to Delectation in the Group 2 Arrowfield Sprint (1200m) first-up on Day 2 of The Championships, the daughter of Sebring displayed a keen turn of foot to run on for fourth in the BTC Cup a fortnight ago.

Sure to receive a gem of a ride from Kerrin McEvoy and barrier 2, Bring Me The Maid will carry a race-low 55kgs in the Doomben 10,000.

Godolphin Australia has already experienced notable Group 1 success this year and are offered two good chances of extending their record through the Doomben 10,000 in Knoydart and Generalife.

Posting five wins and eleven minors through 24 career starts, Knoydart appears primed for Doomben 10,000 success having finishing fourth in the Victory Stakes and second in the BTC Cup most recently.

Confirmed to be partnered by leading hoop Hugh Bowman and allocated a good alley in barrier 6, Generalife placed a credible fifth amongst exceptional company in the Group 1 All Aged Stakes (1400m) last time out and will take huge benefit from a brief freshen up.
