Due to jump as Scone Race 6 at 3:10pm (AEST), this year’s $200,000 Group 3 Darley Dark Jewel Classic (1400m) features a final field of 14 fillies and mares.

Drawn a treat in the handicap clash in barrier two with Christian Reith to ride is Fine Bubbles, the Newcastle-based Casino Prince five-year-old coming off a third to Avoid Lightning in the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on April 11.

A winner of a Wyong trial over 1000m on May 8, Fine Bubbles carried 55kg from barrier 11 in the Sapphire and will appreciate her better barrier and the drop back to the 54kg minimum this weekend in the provincial feature.

All but one of the 14 final acceptors are on the same weight, the 59kg top weight belonging to the Bjorn Baker-trained Diademe who gives away five kilos to all her rivals.

The six-year-old daughter of Savabeel won the Group 1 Breeders Stakes (1600m) back home in NZ in early April before her eighth in the Group 1 Queen of the Turf Stakes (1600m) in Sydney during The Championships.

Dominating the Dark Jewel Classic final field numbers wise is Sydney’s premier trainer Chris Waller with a trio in the mix led by Calming Influence drawn in barrier 11 with James McDonald a late alternation to ride.

The Commands four-year-old resumed racing last Saturday and finished third to Solicit in the Group 3 Hawkesbury Crown (1300m) at Rosehill when carrying two kilos more than her weekend weight allocation.

Waller has also accepted for his Belle of the Turf winner Mamwaazel who ran sixth in the Hawkesbury Crown and outside hope All Cerise.

David Vandyke has accepted for Bound For Earth after she was scratched out of the rescheduled Hawkesbury Crown last weekend, the Northern Meteor four-year-old last seen running seventh in the Sapphire Stakes.

That puts it at 35 days between runs for her, which Vandyke admits isn’t ideal, but he is confident her sharp sectionals last time out will see her thrive over the 1400m which she gets up over for the first time this weekend.

Other notable Dark Jewel Classic chances in the line-up this autumn include the Joe Pride-trained Divertire who ran third to Silverball over 1600m at Warwick Farm on March 25 in the mud and the rails-drawn Scorpio Queen.
