Lumosty On Track for 2015 Tattersall’s Tiara

Classy filly Lumosty posted an impressive three length victory in the All Victorian Sprint Series Heat (1100m) at Flemington on Saturday and remains on a path towards black type feature events during the 2015 Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival.

Partnered by up-and-coming Perth jockey Chris Parnham, Lumosty settled in prime position within the field of 10 before displaying an exceptional turn of foot to pull comfortably clear of the classy field and secure a strong first-up win.

Yet to be confirmed to continue his affiliation with the daughter of Fastnet Rock, Parnham told Racing Ahead he was thrilled with the feel offered up by Lumosty over the weekend and is hopeful trainer Robert Smerdon will book his services for her major targets.

“She’s obviously got above-average ability,” Parnham said.

“She sort of had to get a bit of luck and a bit of room. She got tightened-up a couple of times in the straight but she was good enough to overcome that.

“The race was run at a really good tempo and she did give me a really good feel so it didn’t really surprise me that we ran a good time.

“After the go she really extended and she couldn’t have been more impressive.

“I was just happy enough to ride her on Saturday and I’d love to rider her again if that was possible.”

Posting three wins and as many minors over her short eight start career so far, Lumosty stamped her claims as one to watch over two debut starts early in 2014; running second behind Eloping in the Listed Blue Diamond Fillies Preview (1000m) before boxing on for third in the Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m).

Running second in the Listed Cap D’Antibes Stakes (1100m) upon resuming in spring, Lumosty won the Oxford Landing Estates Maiden (1423m) by nine lengths on October 1st; failing to make an impact when eighth in the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) but returning to the winner’s circle in the Group 2 Moonee Valley Fillies’ Classic (1600m) most notably on Cox Plate Day.
