Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
Talented gelding Dylanson has been a standout performer for Phillip Stokes this year and has been confirmed by the Morphettville-based trainer to contest his final campaign start in Saturday’s Group 3 RA Lee Stakes (1600m).
Posting seven wins and as many minors through his 23 start career so far, Dylanson has finished outside the first three only twice in nine appearances this time and carries winning black type form into the 2015 RA Lee Stakes having comfortably taken out the Listed City Of Adelaide Stakes (1400m) on April 25th.
Understandably thrilled with the condition of the son of Dylan Thomas, Stokes included the five-year-old in nominations for both the RA Lee Stakes and Listed Port Adelaide Cup (2500m) this weekend but is confident he is in the right form for success in the former.
“He’ll definitely run in the RA Lee Stakes,” Stokes said.
“He’s really stepped-up this time this horse. He’s won a listed race.
“He’s in super order, at the mile is great and he worked well this morning and will give a good sight of himself.”
Dylanson has laid a great account for himself over each of his racing preparations so far, and Stokes is confident he has found the key to success with the classy five-year-old.
“I think probably keeping him fresh and back to the mile, it seems like his ideal distance,” Stokes added.
“He’s probably just below the top liners but he’s a nice horse to have around.
“He’ll probably have a break after this and maybe find the right race over the Melbourne Carnival for him somewhere.”
Included amongst a list of 19 nominations on Monday, Dylanson is expected to be confirmed in a capacity field of 18 for the 2015 RA Lee Stakes by midday, Wednesday.
