2015 Lord Mayors Cup Day Scratchings & Rosehill Track Report

Rosehill Gardens Racecourse is host to today’s feature Sydney meeting with the card boosted by the inclusion of two Group 3 races that were part of the Hawkesbury washout last weekend.

Conditions are top notch for an excellent day’s autumn racing at the track with sunny skies and no chance of rain in Sydney for the 10-race program that kicks off at 11:00am (AEST) and continues through until 4:35pm (AEST).

The track is currently still rain-affected after all the rain through the week with 65mm falling over the past seven days, and as of 7:45am (AEST) this morning it was rated a Soft (7).

Improvement as the wind dries it out could see a possible upgrade before the feature races run however including the meeting’s original marquee race – the $100,000 Listed Lord Mayors Cup (2000m) where an open market sees Ecuador ($5) and the market mover Silverball ($6) fighting for the punters’ pick.

On either side of the Lord Mayors Cup now however punters are treated to two Group 3 clashes starting with the $150,000 Group 3 The 2015 Darley Crown (1300m) for the fillies and mares.

The rescheduled Darley Crown has been blow wide open at Ladbrokes.com.au after its seven day postponement with Peron ($3.70) considered the best in show with six of her eight rivals at single figures.

The scratchings from the field are Dublin Lass who was coming off a win over a number of these and the Gai Waterhouse-trained filly Najoom who had the rails but takes the boys on instead in Race 9 at 3:55pm – the $150,000 Group 3 Hawkesbury Guineas (1400m).

Makeadane and Ygritte both come out of the field for the 2015 Hawkesbury Guineas and nine remain with the markets a tight battle between the aforementioned Najoom who is on the move in from $3.60 to $3.10 and Federal ($3.30) who won the Listed South Pacific Classic (1400m) on April 11.
