Fast ‘N’ Rocking Primed for BRC Sprint

Fast ‘N’ Rocking has returned to racing in exceptional condition this year and co-trainer Tom Dabernig is confident Saturday’s Group 3 BRC Sprint (1350m) at Doomben figures as an ideal opportunity for the four-year-old to return to the winner’s circle.

Having won four of his 27 career starts and finished in the minors a further six times, Fast ‘N’ Rocking returned this time for consecutive third place finishes in the Listed Abel Stakes (1100m) and Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m); progressing to fourth in the Group 1 The Galaxy (1100m) before another commendable effort for sixth amongst classy competition in the Group 1 T.J. Smith Stakes (1200m) on Day 1 of The Championships.

Fast’N’Rocking has reportedly enjoyed his time in Brisbane since arriving in preparation for the 2015 BRC Sprint and Dabernig is confident he will lay a great account for himself in the Group 3 race.

“We’ve been very happy with him,” Dabernig told Racing Ahead.

“He stayed in Sydney and arrived up there and travelled well and settled in well.

“I think it looks a really nice race for him. He’s been racing very consistently in very good quality races.”

The Doomben course historically favours on-pace runners and Dabernig confirmed the Fastnet Rock gelding will be ridden a little closer to the pace than usual.

“I think he’ll naturally travel a little bit closer but he’s also a horse that is best ridden when he’s ridden a touch conservative and he can really find the line,” he added.

“We couldn’t have him any better heading into the race.

“He’d probably be the best of the day for us I’d say if the race works out for him.”

Fast ‘N’ Rocking has been a standout performer since first debuting as a two-year-old; running second in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) and fifth in each of the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) and Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) most notably.

Returning to particularly slick form over the 2014 Spring Carnival, Fast ‘N’ Rocking won the Alannah Hill Plate (1100m) and Triforce Handicap (1200m); progressing to third in the Emirates Airline Handicap (1400m) and ending the season with black type success in the Group 3 Kevin Heffernan Stakes (1300m).
