After last Saturday’s Hawkesbury race card was a washout after the first two Group 3 races from that meeting are rescheduled for Rosehill Gardens this weekend including the Darley Crown 2015.
Due to run as Rosehill Race 7 at 2:35pm (AEST) this Saturday, the new field for the fillies-and-mares’ only $150,000 Group 3 The 2015 Darley Crown (1300m) is down to just 10 runners.
Originally 11 female gallopers made up the second final acceptances however Peter & Paul Snowden have scratched Dublin Lass from the line-up early.
Returning off a spell in the race is the Gerald Ryan-trained duo of Solicit and Peace Force, drawn in barriers three and seven respectively, who are both likely to sit high up the markets at Ladbrokes.com.au.
Tim Clark rides the returning Street Cry mare Solicit who hasn’t won a race since the Group 2 Kewney Stakes (1400m) at Flemington in March last year.
While it has been a long time between drinks, she has more recent form against some nice types including her fourth in the Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m) in November last spring.
Her latest run though left a lot to be desired when dead last (11th) in the Group 3 Aspiration Quality (1600m) on March 7 this year, after which she was sent out for a freshen-up.
She is joined by her super-consistent stablemate Peace Force who won three on the trot last time in before the Bernardini five-year-old was last seen running second to Mamwaazel in the Group 3 Belle Of The Turf Stakes (1600m) at Gosford on January 9.
Belle Of The Turf Stakes winner Mamawaazel also features in Saturday’s 2015 Darley Crown line-up, Chris Waller’s Exceed And Excel four-year-old drawn the outside alley for jockey Josh Parr to overcome.
She was spelled after the Group 3 Gosford win in the summer and returned on April 18 when fifth behind Dublin Lass in a Benchmark 85 over 1200m.
Waller has also accepted for Calming Influence, last seen running seventh to Thump in the Group 3 Triscay Stakes (1200m) at Randwick in mid-February and Show A Heart five-year-old Belle De Coeur who had mixed luck with the gates drawing four and 10 respectively.
Darley Crown hopes coming off better form meanwhile include the Anthony Cummings-trained Vergara in gate two and Gai Waterhouse’s rails-drawn Najoom.
Snippetson four-year-old Vergara won at Hawkesbury in November before a first-up win over 1200m at Warwick Farm on April 4 by an impressive 4.5 lengths she’ll be out to repeat in Group 3 company here.
Najoom is the sole filly taking on the older mares in this, the three-year-old daughter of Northern Meteor having won three straight races in March – April before an April 23 win on a Heavy (8) Canterbury track to prove her versatility on all types of ground.
Rounding out the field are then the Kevin Moses-trained My Sabeel, Peter Moody’s Group 1 performed five-year-old Peron and Copy for Godolphin’s head trainer John O’Shea.
