Bumper 2015 Adelaide Guineas Field Released

A capacity field of three-year-olds is set to close the card at Morphettville Racecourse on Saturday when the Adelaide Guineas 2015 rounds out the South Australian Derby Day line-up.

Due to run as Race 8 at 4:28pm (SA time), this weekend’s $80,000 Listed Adelaide Galvanising Adelaide Guineas (1600m) drew 16 starters plus four emergencies originally, but the early scratching of the Jason Warren-trained Rock Spur sees the first emergency Quedoutes come into the field.

Sitting top of the field and drawn ideally in barrier two for jockey Chris Symons is the Greg Eurell-trained Actuariat, a winner of three of his six starts to date.

The Cranbourne-based Domesday gelding was last seen running at Morphettville Parks on April 25 when finishing second in the Listed Nitschke Stakes (1400m), form that could hold up at the course proper at Morphettville this weekend.

Also drawn near the inside for the mile showdown are the likes of Nicconi filly Deanna Jean with barrier one who is out to improve on a below par 12th in the Group 3 Auraria Stakes (1800m) at the track three weeks back, Paula Trenwith’s last start Balaklava winner Karadoc Kid (4) and the Phillip Stokes-trained Coachella (5).

A host of livewire chances have wide draws to overcome for the win this weekend including the Jon O’Connor-trained Magic Boy (17).

The Magic Albert gelding won at the sister track on April 11 before a Nitschke Stakes seventh he’ll be improving on with winning form up to 1500m.

Others with the outside alleys to make the most of include the Ciaron Maher-trained Dubio (11) coming off a 1400m win at Flemington from two weeks ago, Lee & Anthony Freedman’s last start Pakenham winner Distant Rock (16) and Eurell’s other runner Kapset drawn 18 with Damien Oliver to ride.

Also in the line-up are the likes of Lee & Shannon Hope’s New Zealand import Prima out to atone for a 15th of 16 runners in the Group 3 Chairman’s Stakes (2020m) from Anzac Day in his Australian race debut and Pepper The Pin.

Prepared locally by Leon Macdonald & Andrew Gluyas, Good Journey gelding Pepper The Pin was last seen running fourth in the Nitschke Stakes and shoots for his fourth win at start number 10.
