Mr Favulous Returns to Winner’s Circle in Weetwood Handicap

Veteran gelding Mr Favulous has posted undoubtedly a career-best victory to date at Toowoomba this afternoon; incredibly leading from start to finish to take out the Listed Weetwood Handicap (1200m) with ease.

Jumping from the gates well, the Falvelon gelding took up the pace in the 2015 Weetwood Handicap but by no means ran his rivals out of the race over the early stages; setting only a fair tempo.

Steadily picking up the pace rounding onto the final straight, Mr Favulous was offered a clear racing line for his final assault and made it count; never appearing in doubt and opening a lead to hit the line comfortably in the clear of Pillar Of Creation and Choice Bro.

Mr Favulous contested his 61st career start in the 2015 Weetwood Handicap but amazingly, this afternoon’s success registered as his first win amongst black type company.

Having now posted eleven wins and a further 23 minors, Mr Favulous returned to racing in typically competitive form this time without setting the Queensland racing circuit on fire; running fourth in the Listed Falvelon Quality (1200m) before finishing third in three consecutive minor sprints on the Gold Coast and at Doomben.

Classy local Pillar Of Creation displayed a keen turn of foot in the final straight of the 2015 Weetwood Handicap but was unable to make up the distance of Mr Favulous.

Having started his racing career under the guidance of Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra, the God’s Own gelding has finished fourth in the Carlton Mid Plate (1350m) and fifth in the Matthew Dunning Racing Handicap (1400m) since being transferred to the care of Tony Sears this time.

Consistent performer Choice Bro contested his first start for Sears in the 2015 Weetwood Handicap and is sure to take priceless condition from the run.
