Darley Crown 2015 Field: Favourites Draw Wide

A host of the top fancied fillies and mares in Saturday’s 2015 The Darley Crown at Hawkesbury Racecourse have suffered early blows with wide barrier draws for the set weights plus penalties clash.

One of three Group status races on the Hawkesbury Gold Cup card on the weekend, this year’s $150,000 Group 3 Darley Crown 2015 (1300m) features a full line-up of 14 fillies and mares plus an emergency runner in Villa Splendido.

The Darley Crown odds at Ladbrokes.com.au are set to be a wide-open affair after the wide draws for the likely favourites including Fine Bubbles (13), Peace Force (14) and My Sabeel (15).

Kris Lees’ Casino Prince five-year-old Fine Bubbles has a solid 1300m record (10-3-4-1) and comes off a brave third to Group 1 runner on the weekend at Morphettville Avoid Lightning in the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on April 11.

She had barrier 11 that day, and is wide again on Saturday jumping from gate 12 if the emergency comes out.

Peace Force has the nasty draw for her first-up run of the season, Brenton Avdulla booked to ride Gerald Ryan’s ultra-consistent Bernardini mare who has won six of her 16 starts to date.

Two of her previous runs have been at Hawkesbury, and she’s run second both times at the track, most recently in February last year over the mile behind Mahara.

She was last seen running at Gosford in early January where she only just missed out on a summer feature win when a nose off Mamwaazel in the Group 3 Belle Of The Turf Stakes (1600m).

My Sabeel meanwhile has the outside barrier to overcome this weekend when the rising eight-year-old looks to atone for her last start seventh to the Chris Waller-trained Catkins in Rosehill’s Group 2 Emancipation Stakes (1500m) in late March.

Also drawn poorly are the likes of the Chris Waller-trained All Cerise (12) and stablemate Mamwaazel (11).

Even from the gate Exceed And Excel four-year-old Mamwaazel is sure to feature high up the markets for her second-up run following a fifth last time out.

She beat Pearce Force home in the Belle Of The Turf back in January, so has form around these mares.

Waller has a total of four in the race with his other two chances being the returning Calming Influence and Belle De Coeur with the rails run in barrier one.

Other notable Darley Crown hopefuls this autumn include Ryan’s other runner Solicit who is highest-rated acceptor, but who hasn’t won a race since the Group 2 Kewney Stakes (1400m) at Flemington in March last year, and Sapphire Stakes fifth placed Peron for Peter Moody whose drought extends even further back to June of 2013 at Ipswich.

Then make sure you don’t settle for second best odds on the weekend by opening an account with Ladbrokes.com.au, making your first deposit and quoting the code BETBONUS to have it matched up to $250 as a bonus bet you can split four ways!
