Jockey Tim Clark has partnered Avoid Lightning in twelve of her last thirteen competitive starts and is thrilled with the condition of the classy mare leading into Saturday’s featured Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville.

Posting a commendable race record of eleven wins and a further seven minors through 26 career starts, Avoid Lightning ran a commendable third in the Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes (1300m) first-up this time, and while unable to match the late pace when tenth in the Group 1 The Galaxy (1100m), will carrying winning form into Saturday’s feature after claiming victory in the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes (1200m) on April 11th.

Understandably thrilled to have again retained the ride on Les Bridge’s stable star, Clark was thrilled with the Blevic mare’s ability to maintain a forward position in her most recent tilt and is excited by the chances of success in the 2015 Robert Sangster Stakes.

“It was probably the first time the other day that I have personally ridden her on the speed and I thought she was really brave there,” Clarke told Sky Racing HQ of the Sapphire Stakes.

“There didn’t look to be a lot of pace and the track was playing a little bit leader-ish, so we had to be a little more positive on her and she handled no worries.

“I think that she has got a lot of confidence from it.

“There are not many fillies or mares only Group 1 events on the calendar, so you have to go where they are on. I am looking forward to getting to Adelaide.

“She raced early on in her career there and hopefully she can go back there and win a Group 1.

“I am really happy with her and I think that she has really come on since that win.

“It has given her a lot of confidence and she is top of the world at the moment and just in great heart.

“She is heading to Adelaide in really good order.”

Registering exceptional form over the 2014 autumn and winter, Avoid Lightning won each of the Group 3 Birthday Card Stakes (1200m) and Listed June Stakes (1100m) most notably on her way to third in the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m).
