One of the final meetings of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival, this Saturday features a top eight-race program including Race 3 at 1:45pm (AEST) for the three-year-old fillies – the $150,000 Group 3 Kari J.H.B. Carr Stakes (1400m).

Of the dozen fillies in the mix, Quinton’s daughter of Redoute’s Choice Peeping is one of the likely top fancies in the markets at based on her ace lead-up form.

A winner of three of her six starts to date she is yet to finish out of the money, her latest victory being in the Listed Darby Munro Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill on March 21.

She backed up from that at Randwick for a close second crossing just a neck off the winner Miss Cover Girl on a Heavy (8) track on April 6 in the Group 3 PJ Bell Stakes (1200m) she’ll be out to improve on this weekend.

Peeping is drawn a treat in barrier four for her regular rider Sam Clipperton who continues his association with the up-and-comer this weekend.

Also drawn well in barrier three with Kathy O’Hara to ride is the Jason Coyle-trained Slightly Sweet, the Charge Forward filly looking to return to the winner’s stall after an unplaced run in Group 1 company last time out.

Two back the consistent filly who ran third in both the Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes (1200m) and Group 2 Surround Stakes (1400m) in February beat home Wine Tales to win the Group 3 Keith Nolan Stakes (1600m) at Kembla Grange.

She stepped up in both class and distance then on March 28 when seventh, still beaten under three lengths by the winner Fenway in the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m).

She is back in easier company for the JHB Carr Stakes this weekend then and will also appreciate the step back to 1400m here.

There are three last start winners in the line-up meanwhile with the David Vandyke-trained Commands filly Anyaas on the rails in barrier one, the lightly-raced Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Nancy for Tommy Berry in gate nine after her third win at start number four and the retuning Randwick winner Sebrina (barrier seven) trained by Bjorn Baker.

Other notable hopes include the Gai Waterhouse-trained duo of Nayeli and Carbine Club Stakes fourth placed Domesday grey Supara drawn the outside barriers 11 and 12 respectively, and the progressive Lee & Anthony Freedman-trained Matilija.

A James McDonald mount on Saturday, Matilija has had four starts for two wins and two thirds so far and was last seen running third in the PJ Bell Stakes in the mud at the track a fortnight ago.
