Bouncing from the gates well, jockey Kerrin McEvoy immediately led the High Chaparral colt to the fore of the field of seven; setting a reasonably tempo on the rails alongside Godolphin hopeful Farolitos.

Steadily increasing the pace around the bend and upon reaching the final straight, Hi World locked in a pace battle with Farolitos over the final 300m but never really appeared to be troubled; pulling a length clear upon hitting the line; stable mate Inauguration boxing on for third.

McEvoy offered a confident ride on Hi World for success in the 2015 Carbine Club Stakes and was thrilled to deliver Moody an early win on Day 1 of The Championships.

“It’s a pleasure to be here on a lovely day and riding a horse of this calibre,” McEvoy said.

“He’s gone to another level today and it’s a credit to Pete and his team.

“I thought I’d be in third or fourth spot today but he pinned the lids and he actually raced a little bit fierce through the first part.

“He’s a determined little fella, he was strong on the line and he’ll stay further than that if he relaxes.

“It’s nice to get a win on the board early.”

Moody was pleased with Hi World’s performance in the 2015 Carbine Club Stakes and revealed that while yet to settle on the next point of call; the Group 3 Gunsynd Classic (1600m) on the Gold Coast in three weeks’ time looks a good option.

“We were prepared to take a sit but nothing took it up, so he (McEvoy) took initiative and judged it to a nicety,” Moody said.

“He’s still a bit of a backward type, but you’ve got the Packer Plate in a fortnight at 10 furlongs if we wanted to go down that path, or there’s even the Gold Coast in three weeks.

“Nine furlongs I think it is so those options on the table but I don’t think it will be much of a deep preparation; maybe one more in him and then he goes away for the spring – he’s got a lot of growing and developing to do.”
