Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
Miracles Of Life is one of 22 horses nominated for the Group 1 Galaxy (1100m) at Rosehill this Saturday and the four-year-old mare will carry a weight of just 55.5kg, a two and a half swing against defending champion Tiger Tees.
“That’s excellent, that’s a good weight for her and I’m very happy with that,” co-trainer Peter Snowden told Racenet when he heard the news.
The Peter & Paul Snowden-trained mare is in good form for the $400,000 race after resuming for a win in the Group 2 Challenge Stakes (1000m) at Randwick on March 7. It was Miracles Of Life’s first start in over three months but she showed no sign of freshness, winning two and a quarter lengths clear of runner-up Va Pensiero with Rubick a further short half-head away in third.
Miracles Of Life was awkwardly away from the inside barrier but mustered speed to be five and a half lengths away in fifth on the fence, behind a strong early tempo. She slowly made her way up the field, swinging wider off heels into the centre of the track on straightening. She loomed from 400 metres and dashed by the tiring leaders for an easy first-up win.
It has been a considered effort on the mare’s trainers behalf to give Miracles Of Life an easy campaign, believing they worked her too hard when they first got her in the spring.
Miracles Of Life dead-heated with Bel Sprinter in the Group 2 Caulfield Sprint (1100m) first-up, following two trials, before running midfield in the Group 3 GH Mumm Stakes (1100m) three weeks later.
“Looking back I probably did a bit too much work with her in the spring,” he said.
“This time I’ve kept that mindset not to do too much with her and she’s thriving, different horse. Carrying condition, eating her head off and bucking her brand off.
“She’s in perfect order heading into Saturday.”
Miracles Of Life has placed in 10 of her 15 career starts, earning more than $1.2 million in prize money. The final field and barrier draw is due to be released for the 2015 Galaxy later this morning. Make sure to check back at Races.com.au for all the latest news.
