Headlining the field is the Donna Logan-trained Rising Romance, who outclasses her rivals by a longshot. The four-year-old mare has placed in 11 of her 17 career starts and even enjoyed a runner-up placing in the Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) back in October.

Rising Romance resumed her campaign in her home base of New Zealand, winning a handicap race over 1500 metres on February 14 followed by a very fast finishing second placing in the Group 1 New Zealand Stakes (2000m), getting out bobbed by Sakhee’s Soldier on the line.

Donna Logan’s mare will need to win the 2015 Epona Stakes to have any hope of featuring in The Championships at Randwick on April 11, where she holds a nomination for both the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) and Group 1 Sydney Cup (3200m).

Following Rising Romance in the nominations are Peter & Paul Snowden’s Sabor A Triunfo and Kris LeesOriental Lady.

Five-year-old Sabor A Triunfo was spelled for six months after the mare ran second-last in the Listed Premier Cup (1800m) on August 30 but resumed in the Group 3 Aspiration Quality (1600m) at Randwick on March 7, running midfield in sixth place.

Oriental Lady ran second in the Listed Gosford Cup (2100m) on January 9 and third in the Listed Australia Day Cup (2400m) two weeks later.

Top Sydney trainer Chris Waller could deliver a three-pronged attack on the Epona Stakes after nominating three runners – Ballet Suite, Intimate Moment, and Telepathic.

Three-year-old filly Ballet Suite won her maiden at Bendigo back in September and has gone on to win both of her subsequent starts, including a Benchmark 70 over a mile on March 11.

Intimate Moment finished third in the Aspiration Quality two weeks ago, just half a length behind winner Adorabeel, while Telepathic was a short half-head away in fourth place.

The 2015 Epona Stakes is shaping up to be a rematch of the Aspiration Quality with Joseph Pride nominating winner Adorabeel and John O’Shea nominating runner-up Entertains as well.
