2015 Australian Guineas Day Scratchings & Track Report

A bumper nine-race program is scheduled for Flemington Racecourse this afternoon with Australian Guineas Day 2015 the latest feature meeting of the Melbourne Autumn Racing Carnival.

It is partly cloudy day trackside at Victoria’s premier course today with a cool day getting up into the low twenties keeping the crowds and horses comfortable.

Flemington’s course proper is currently rated a Good (3) and the rail is in the true position the entire circuit making for perfect racing conditions.

Flemington Track Report – 07/03/2015

Racing kicks off at 12:40pm (AEDT) with some two-year-olds facing off in a black type sprint down the straight and continues through until a staying showdown for the last at Listed level at 5:45pm.

The first of the three Group races runs as Race 4 at 2:30pm with only six left in the mix for the $150,000 Group 3 TAB Rewards Stakes (1400m) after the scratchings of #4 Decircles and #8 Harare.

Two events later the fillies and mares steal the show in the $150,000 Group 3 Frances Tressady Stakes (1400m) with 10 to face off after Robert Smerdon withdrew his Group 1 performed mare #1 Politeness from the line-up.

The event all the punters are waiting for then runs as Flemington Race 7 at 4:30pm with three notable scratchings from the $500,000 Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) field.

Neville Parnham’s WA raider #1 Rommel is out of the race with injury, #4 Testashadow and #14 Rod’s Opinion also out.

The Australian Guineas odds at Ladbrokes.com.au are currently led by Chris Waller’s Sydney visitor Kermadec at $3.40 who scratched out from Sydney’s Randwick Guineas field for this Melbourne assignment.
