2015 Randwick Guineas Betting Tips

Just six three-year-olds will tackle the Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) this Saturday after Scissor Kick was scratched due to a virus; the small but select field has become even smaller.

Half of the field is offering single figure odds in the betting market at Ladbrokes.com.au, led by co-favourites Hallowed Crown and Shooting To Win at $2.60.

Five of the six runners are coming via the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m), which ran at Rosehill on January 21 and was won by Hallowed Crown. The three-year-old colt opened the betting as $2.90 favourite but has since seen his price shorten to $2.60.

Shooting To Win is the market mover, seeing his price shorten from $3.20 to $2.60 following the scratching of Scissor Kick. The colt ran fourth to Hallowed Crown in the Hobartville Stakes but was only half a length away.

Check out our 2015 Randwick Guineas race tips below to see who to tip in the feature race this Saturday.

1st

#1 Hallowed Crown ($2.60)

You really can’t look past the race favourite and punters are getting quite a lucrative price for the colt considering he could easily be the odds-on favourite. Hallowed Crown will look to follow in reigning champion Dissident’s footsteps after he completed the Hobartville Stakes-Randwick Guineas double last year. The Bart & James Cummings-trained colt did well to win the Hobartville two weeks ago, considering he was checked when trying for a run. Hallowed Crown has won five of his six career starts, including the Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) back in September, but is untested over a mile. He will enjoy the inside jump from barrier one with Hugh Bowman to ride.

2nd

#3 Shooting To Win ($2.60)

Peter & Paul Snowden’s colt may have finished outside the placings in fourth place during the Hobartville Stakes but he was only a quarter of a length off winner Hallowed Crown; the colt was just out-toughed late but still ran well. Shooting To Win is already a winner over the trip after winning the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) back in October. The colt had a very rewarding spring campaign and looks set to continue his form during the autumn. Shooting To Win will jump from barrier two, which has brought home four winners since 1983, with Blake Shinn as jockey.

3rd

#5 Sweynesse ($3.40)

The John O’Shea-trained colt is just another top-class runner in the 2015 Randwick Guineas. Sweynesse was a fast finishing runner-up to Hallowed Crown in the Hobartville Stakes a fortnight ago, just missing out after a late charge from the winner. The colt won the Group 1 Spring Stakes (1600m) over the distance back in September followed by a minor placing in the Group 1 Champion Stakes (2000m). Sweynesse will jump from the widest gate with James McDonald aboard as rider.

Place your 2015 Randwick Guineas bets at Ladbrokes.com.au to take advantage of the Best Tote or SP + 20% promotion, which means you’ll receive an additional 20% on top of your winnings!
