A total of 15 fillies and mares make up the early entries for the $150,000 Group 3 Frances Tressady Stakes (1400m) this Melbourne Autumn Racing Carnival including Street Sense four-year-old Politeness.

She won the Group 3 Summoned Stakes (1500m) at Sandown in mid-November before coming back to run a close third to Tycoon Tara in the Group 3 Geoffrey Bellmaine Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on February 14.

Tycoon Tara franked the form coming out of that race last Saturday winning the Group 3 Mannerism Stakes (1400m) on Blue Diamond Stakes Day.

Also high up the Frances Tressady Stakes ratings are the David Hayes & Tom Dabernig-trained stablemates Girl Guide and Star Fashion.

Of the two the top chance looks to be Star Fashion who is also nominated to take on the boys in the $150,000 Group 3 TAB Rewards Stakes (1400m) at the same track and distance on Saturday.

The four-year-old daughter of Street Cry is Group 1 performed and won the Group 3 Ladies Day Vase (1600m) at Caulfield during the spring.

Her latest run was a seventh to last weekend’s subsequent Group 1 Futurity Stakes winner Suavito in the Group 2 Momentum Energy Stakes (2000m) at Flemington on Emirates Stakes Day last November.

The best mare to come out of that race nominated for the Frances Tressady on the weekend meanwhile is the Robbie Griffiths-trained Girl In Flight.

A striking grey Commands four-year-old, Girl In Flight was a nose away second in the Melbourne Cup Day clash with connections hoping she can emulate Suavito and come back with a win first-up this autumn.

Sixth in the race and also down to return on Saturday is the Michael Kent-trained Sebring four-year-old Scratchy Bottom who is a dual Group 1 placegetter in Adelaide.

Last autumn – winter season she finished third to May’s Dream in the Group 1 Schweppes Oaks (2000m) before a second to Kushadasi in the Group 1 SA Derby (2500m), the mare boasting two first-up wins from three starts before Saturday.

Along with Star Fashion, another dual TAB Rewards Stakes – Frances Tressady Stakes nominee is the Peter Moody-trained Dig A Pony.

The Mutawaajid four-year-old ran fourth to Star Fashion in the Ladies Day Vase on October 15 before a third at Flemington in a non-black type on Melbourne Cup Day and a first-up seventh to Hard Stride at Flemington on February 21 she’s out to improve on here.

Other notable Frances Tessady Stakes nominees include last start Moonee Valley winner Written, runner-up in the same Benchmark 84 race from February 20 Scarlet Billows and Griffiths’ other entry Nadeem Lass who comes off a third in the Group 3 Vamos Stakes (1400m) at Launceston from February 18.
