A capacity field of sixteen fillies will line up...
Nominations for all the support races on the Australian Guineas Day program at Flemington Racecourse this Saturday are now out including those for the TAB Rewards Stakes 2015.
Entries for the $150,000 Group 3 TAB Rewards Stakes (1400m) have been extended until 10am (AEDT) on Tuesday with 14 current nominees for the handicap clash.
The highest-rated of the current hopefuls is the Mathew Ellerton & Simon Zahra-trained Street Sense four-year-old Hard Stride coming off a Benchmark 96 win over 1200m at the track on February 21.
Also coming off a win is the David Hayes & Tom Dabernig-trained Tale Of The Cat gelding Gracious Prospect.
The in-form four-year-old has won back-to-back races over the track and distance of Saturday’s race including on February 21 when beating home Swift Shadow by three-quarters of a length.
Hayes & Dabernig’s Lindsay Park operation could also be represented in the race by smart Street Sense mare Star Fashion, the four-year-old set to resume racing.
She boasts a nice first-up record with two wins and a second from three runs when resuming, and is out to improve on her fading form at the end of the spring.
She won back-to-back Caulfield races in September and October, including the Group 3 Ladies Day Vase (1600m), before a 10th to Bonaria in the Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m) and a last start seventh to Suavito in the Group 2 Momentum Energy Stakes (2000m) on November 8.
The form coming out of that race was franked last Saturday at Caulfield with the winner Suavito coming back to score an upset win in the Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m).
Other gallopers coming off nice lead-up runs include the Ciaron Maher-trained Toorak Handicap fourth place-getter Akavoroun, Archie Alexander’s Snitzel gelding Amorino and Decircles for local Flemington horseman Danny O’Brien.
Encosta De Lago six-year-old Decircles is after his first win since defeating Lord Of The Sky in the Group 3 Standish Handicap (1200m) on January 1, his four runs since producing two seconds and a last start fifth to Hard Stride from a fortnight ago.
Other notable TAB Rewards Stakes nominations include Bendigo Cup fifth placed entire Count Of Limonade, the Peter Moody-trained Group 2 performing mare Dig A Pony, Listed Weekend Hussler Stakes winner Hosting out to atone for a last to Hard Stride here on the 21st and Chris Waller’s resuming stallion Tougher Than Ever.
