Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
Winner of the Guy Walter Stakes last weekend, the in-form Danesiri is nominated to back up this Saturday in the Aspiration Quality 2015 at Royal Randwick.
On Chipping Norton Stakes Day at Warwick Farm John Thompson’s Home On The Grange six-year-old scored an upset win as a $26 outsider in the Group 3 Guy Walter Stakes (1400m).
That was the mare’s second nice run of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival following her first-up second to Thump in the Group 3 Triscay Stakes (1200m) at Randwick, where she could return this weekend, in mid-February.
Danesiri is now one of 14 fillies and mares entered for the $150,000 Group 3 Aspiration Quality (1600m) on Randwick Guineas Day, nominations for the handicap clash extended until 11am (AEDT) on Tuesday.
There are two other last start winners nominated for the showdown with the Gai Waterhouse-trained Group 1 performed four-year-old Role Model and Telepathic coming off a 1400m win at the track from February 14 for Chris Waller.
Waller has also entered his Dubawi four-year-old Intimate Moment while Waterhouse’s other hopeful is the ultra-consistent Mardi.
A four-year-old daughter of Redoute’s Choice, Mardi has won three of her seven starts to date and also placed second three times.
Her latest start was also her first foray into black type company when a credible fourth behind Catkins in the Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes (1300m) at Rosehill on February 21, a run Waterhouse is hoping she can improve on when stepped up to a mile for the first time this weekend.
The highest-rated mare among the nominations meanwhile is the Gerald Ryan-trained Solicit.
A four-year-old daughter of Street Cry, Solicit has big targets this autumn including possibly the $4 million Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) on Day 2 of The Championships in April.
It has been a notable time between drinks for her, Solicit’s most recent victory being in the Group 2 Kewney Stakes (1400m) at Flemington last March.
She was second to Lucia Valentina in the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) last April and has had two runs this time in.
Her latest was an improving fourth in the Guy Walter Stakes meanwhile she, like the winner Danesiri, could be on the short seven day turnaround this weekend.
Other notable Aspiration Quality hopes include Gerald Ryan’s Group 2 Phar Lap runner-up from last March Define and the Stephen Theodore-trained Lady Lakshmi coming off a Group 3 sixth at Launceston on February 18,
