More than half of the field is offering single figure odds in the betting market at, led by David Hayes & Tom Dabernig’s Sistonic. The three-quarter sister of Black Caviar is the $1.95 odds-on favourite after winning both of her two career starts.

Sistonic impressively and effortlessly won her maiden on debut in the Peter Gray Maiden Plate (1100m) at Sale on January 15 and backed it up with a Benchmark 64 victory over 1200 metres two weeks later.

The filly was smartly away and soon took the lead, travelling strongly to the front in an easy fashion. He moved well clear on turning for home and was given a very easy time, winning by three-quarters of a length.

Sistonic will enjoy a jump from barrier two with Michael Walker, carrying the minimum weight of 55kg. The filly is one of three runners with just two career starts to her name but faces some tough competition from her established rivals, including the four other single figure hopefuls.

  • #4 Royal Snitzel ($6) – the Mick Price-trained three-year-old filly has finished in the first two in all five of her career starts, although both times the filly has stepped up to black-type racing she’s failed to win. Royal Snitzel was last seen running a strong second to Sabatini in the Group 3 Kevin Hayes Stakes (1200m) two weeks ago. She won her lone start at Moonee Valley back in January, coming home one and a half lengths in front of her rivals in a Benchmark 70. Royal Snitzel will jump from barrier seven with Dale Smith to ride.
  • #6 Matilija ($7)Lee & Anthony Freedman’s filly is another lightly run horse, winning both of her two career starts the same as Sistonic. Matilija will jump from barrier six with Ben Melham as hoop.
  • #9 Vezalay ($8) – the Leon & Troy Corstens-trained three-year-old impressively won her maiden last October by three and a quarter lengths. The filly proved she will relish the 1200m trip after dominating the 1100m maiden length and just running short of first place over 1000m at Moonee Valley on February 6 where she lost to Matilija. Vezalay will start from barrier five with Damien Oliver.
  • #1 Eloping ($9)Peter Morgan & Craig Widdison’s filly is the most experienced of the nine runners but will carry the top weight of 58.5kg as she jumps from the outside gate. Eloping has won six of her 14 starts, the last of which was the Listed Blue Sapphire Stakes (1200m) in October. She was rusty on resuming in the Group 2 Rubiton Stakes (1100m) two weeks ago but will enjoy the trip to Moonee Valley where she won the Group 3 Champagne Stakes over 1200m.
