2015 Guy Walter Stakes Betting Tips

16 top-class mares will tackle the Group 3 Guy Walter Stakes (1400m) at Warwick Farm this Saturday, offering punters a variety of betting options.

Just three of the 16 runners are offering single figure odds in the betting market at Ladbrokes.com.au, with Cosmic Endeavour and Arabian Gold co-favourites at $4.80.

Cosmic Endeavour is one of two mares saddled by Gai Waterhouse in the race and will enjoy a start from barrier six with Tommy Berry. The four-year-old has won six of her 14 career starts and is already a Group One winner. She resumed in the Group 3 Triscay Stakes (1200m) two weeks ago, finishing just outside the placings. The mare has previously won all three of her starts over the trip.

David Vandyke’s Arabian Gold has seen a strong push of support in the betting market, with his price shortening from $6 into $4.80. The grey mare will get her first start of the season in the Guy Walter Stakes and was last seen running second last in the Group 1 Toorak Handicap (1600m) back in October. Will her lack of preparation get the better of her or have the punters clued in on the winner?

Check out our 2015 Guy Walter Stakes betting tips below to get a hint of where you should put your money this Saturday.

#14 Tarloshan ($14)

The Graeme Boyd-trained five-year-old mare is a fantastic betting prospect for punters at $14 to win or $4.40 to place. Tarloshan has finished in the first two in nine of her 11 career starts, winning more than half of her total runs. The mare is in good form heading to Warwick Farm considering she’s won two of her past three starts – the Listed Just Now Quality (1350m) and Listed Sunshine Coast Cup (1400m) – and finished runner-up in the third. She has won all four of her starts over 1400m and has made the trip to Warwick Farm once before for a Benchmark 75 last June, which she won by nearly two lengths. The only thing working against Tarloshan is that she will jump from a wide gate (14).

#1 Cosmic Endeavour ($4.80)

Gai Waterhouse’s four-year-old mare Cosmic Endeavour is co-favourite in the betting, having won six of her 14 career starts. The mare enjoyed a winning run this time last year, travelling to Brisbane for the winter after a successful autumn. She went on to win the Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes (1400m) before her career highlight came in the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m), which she won by a head. The mare enjoyed a lengthy spell following her long campaign, resuming eight months later in the Triscay Stakes, in which she finished just over one length off the winner. Cosmic Endeavour has won all three of her starts over 1400m and will enjoy a jump from barrier six with Tommy Berry.

#4 Dear Demi ($10)

The Clarry Conners-trained Dear Demi is set to resume in the Guy Walter after her spring campaign was cut short due to illness. The classy five-year-old showed talent during the spring to run second in the Group 2 Let’s Elope Stakes (1400m) before winning the Group 2 Stocks Stakes (1600m). Dear Demi has finished in the first three in all six of her trips over 1400 metres and four of her five starts at Warwick Farm. The mare will jump from barrier eight with Jim Cassidy to ride.
