2015 Angus Armanasco Stakes Betting Tips

A class field of fillies and mares face off in the Angus Armanasco Stakes 2015 at Caulfield Racecourse this weekend, betting tips for the Blue Diamond Stakes Day support race detailed below.

Marple Miss

The set weights plus penalties race for the female gallopers runs as Race 3 at 2:40pm (AEDT), 11 making up the field for this year’s $200,000 Group 2 Polytrack Angus Armanasco Stakes (1400m).

Heading the latest Angus Armanasco Stakes odds at Ladbrokes.com.au paying $3.50 to retain her undefeated status is the Mick Price-trained Bottle Of Smoke.

Drawn in barrier four for top hoop Damien Oliver, this Northern Meteor filly has won both her career starts so far including her latest with Oliver in the saddle over 1200m at Mornington on February 11 by two lengths from a wide barrier 10 (of 12) draw.

Also at single figures to win are then the flying Marple Miss ($4.60) after her fourth on the trot, the rails-drawn Sabatini ($5) who is also a last start winner, the Robert Smerdon-trained Fontein Ruby ($6) and market mover Thinking Of You ($7) right in from $9.

With so many livewire chances below are the Races.com.au’s Angus Armanasco Stakes betting tips to lock in online at Ladbrokes.com.au this weekend.

#3 Marple Miss ($4.60)

From barrier five with Chad Schofield aboard this in-form Not A Single Doubt filly will get the run of the race and can be first past the post with a bit of luck. She comes off three straight wins since the start of last month, but all are in Sydney. This will be her Melbourne debut and how she handles the other way of going will be key. Most recent win was over 1500m at Rosehill on February 7, but dropping back she is undefeated over Saturday’s distance (2-2-0-0).

#2 Sabatini ($5)

Another good draw, Lee & Shannon Hope’s Street Cry filly is second-up here after a nice win over Royal Sntizel and Fontein Ruby in the Group 3 Kevin Hayes Stakes (1200m) here at Caulfield two weeks ago. She is undefeated second-up and is a dual Group 3 winner having also won the Quezette Stakes at this track last August. Her other most notable run was a third when under a length off Amicus in the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) last October so has class.

#1 Fontein Ruby ($6)

Think the form coming out of the Kevin Hayes Stakes from February 14 could stack up and this Turffontein filly ran a nice third in the race. She is a Group 2 winner having taken out the Edward Manifold over the Flemington mile in October, from which she backed up to win a Group 3 over 2000m at Caulfield. Has never won first-up but has two runs in so should be improving on what she did last time out
