Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
A classy field of nine three-year-old fillies will contest the Group 3 Typhoon Tracy Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on Friday night, including Peter Morgan & Craig Widdison’s Eloping.
The three-year-old filly will carry the top weight of 58.5kg as she overcomes a wide start from the outside gate with Stephen Baster to ride.
Eloping had a successful spring campaign, finishing in the first three in four of her five starts. She was third in the Group 2 McEwen Stakes (1000m) first-up before winning back-to-back in the Group 3 Champagne Stakes (1200m) and Listed Blue Sapphire Stakes (1200m).
The filly stepped up to Group One racing for just the second time in the Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) on November 1. She led the outside group and acted like a buffer on the outside rail but ran her usual tough race to finish midfield in sixth. Eloping ended her season with a runner-up finish in the Group 3 Gucci Stakes (1100m).
Following a 12 week spell, Eloping resumed in the Group 2 Rubiton Stakes (1100m) on February 14 but weakened right out of the running to finish seventh of the ten-horse field. The filly jumped from barrier one and carried just 52.5kg in this race, a stark change from her conditions for the 2015 Typhoon Tracy Stakes.
David Hayes & Tom Dabernig’s Sistonic will face her toughest test to date on Friday night. The three-quarter sister of Black Caviar is unbeaten from her two starts, including a four and a half length maiden victory at Sale back in January, but will step up to black-type racing for the first time in the Typhoon Tracy Stakes.
Sistonic will enjoy a jump from barrier two with Michael Walker as jockey.
The John Moloney-trained Sea Spray will enjoy the inside jump from barrier one Damian Lane to ride. The filly has finished in the first two in five of her six career starts but has not been seen since she finished runner-up in the Listed Lexus Hybrid Plate (1400m) back on November 4.
Team Hawkes’ London Lolly will jump from barrier three with Dwayne Dunn while Mick Price’s Royal Snitzel will start in barrier seven with Dale Smith to ride.
Royal Snitzel was last seen running second in the Group 3 Kevin Hayes Stakes (1200m) on February 14.
