Catkins Odds-On Favourite in 2015 Millie Fox Stakes Betting

Just three of the runners are offering single figure odds in the betting market at, led by Catkins at $1.90.

The popular grey mare is odds-on favourite to win her second race of the season after nabbing a late victory in the Group 2 Breeders Classic (1200m) on February 7. Catkins was fast out the gates to find the front before taking a trail. She was only two lengths back at the turn but eased out three wide. She got level with 150m to go and just put her nose down on the line to win ahead of Lilliburlero and defend her title.

This will be just the second start over 1300m for Catkins, who won a Benchmark 75 over the distance back in November 2012. However the Chris Waller-trained mare has plenty of experience at Rosehill, placing in 10 of her 12 starts at the track.

Catkins will bring class to the 2015 Millie Fox Stakes, running third in both the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) and Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m) in the past year. She has drawn the second-widest gate but Catkins has proved time and time again she can win races from wide draws.

Avoid Lightning is the $3.60 second-favourite in the Millie Fox Stakes betting. The Les Bridge-trained mare will enjoy an inside jump from barrier two with Tim Clark.

The six-year-old has only run at Rosehill once (which she won) but is in-form after placing in all six of her past starts.

Avoid Lightning ran third in the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) at Eagle Farm during the Brisbane Winter Carnival and won her lone start during the spring – the Group 3 Nivision (1200m).

Rounding out the single figure betting is Lilliburlero ($4.40), who will get her chance at revenge against Catkins on Saturday after the grey mare stole the Breeders Classic victory in the final moments of the race.

The David Payne-trained mare will jump midfield from barrier five with Glyn Schofield to ride. Lilliburlero has finished first two in four of her six starts at Rosehill and finished runner-up once over 1300m.
