The race is setting up to be the one to watch today with the likes of Mossfun, Winx, and Amicus all resuming. rates First Seal as the $3.20 favourite in the betting, on the back of her impressive spring campaign. The filly will also enjoy the inside jump from barrier one with Blake Shinn returning to the saddle.

First Seal enjoyed a strong trial on her resumption earlier this month and is ready to return to the track.

“Her work has been great and her trial was very good, so she’s ready,” Thompson told Racing Network on Friday.

The three-year-old filly had a very successful campaign during the spring, winning both the Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) and Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m) before finishing runner-up in the Group 1 Champion Stakes (2000m).

Thompson revealed the filly’s upcoming autumn campaign remains up in the air, although her first three starts are set in stone.

Following the 2015 Light Fingers Stakes, First Seal will travel to Warwick Farm on February 28 for the Group 2 Surround Stakes (1400m), followed by the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) two weeks later at Rosehill.

“Her first three runs are set in stone, then after that we will let her tell us where she should be going,” Thompson said.

“She will run in the Light Fingers tomorrow, then two weeks into the Surround Stakes and two weeks into the Coolmore against the older mares.

“After that we can go back to her own age in the Vinery then the Oaks, or we have the option of the Doncaster and even the Queen Elizabeth.

“It’s just nice to have a horse good enough to be able to even contemplate running in these races, but she certainly seems good enough from what we saw last time in.”
