The $200,000 Group 2 Blue Diamond Prelude (Fillies) (1100m) is shaping up as the form line to follow heading into the $1 million Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) back at the track on February 28.

The top four in the futures Blue Diamond Stakes odds at are all fillies and are all facing off in the Prelude this weekend, the set weights clash due to jump as Caulfield Race 3 at 2:40pm (AEDT).

Favourite in both markets is the Robert Smerdon-trained Blue Diamond Fillies Preview winner Fontiton who is at $4.40 for the Group 1 and $2.60 for Saturday.

Hot on her heels for the Grand Final at $4.80, and paying $3.20 for the weekend’s clash, is then Not A Single Doubt filly Secret Agenda.

She won over 1000m on debut at Moonee Valley back in December and is out to maintain her undefeated status here and steal Blue Diamond favouritism from Fontiton.

According to her trainer Price that is not just a pipe dream either, Secret Agenda travelling sweetly and looking spot on for the highly anticipated clash of the season’s top two fillies.

Price knows what it takes to win a Blue Diamond with a filly too having won in 2012 with Samaready.

The secret? Timing.

“Secret Agenda didn’t need to go for a break after Moonee Valley but we put her out in the paddock so that we could re-time her preparation,” Price told Racing Victoria.

“The thing with these two-year-olds is to win a Blue Diamond you’ve got to catch them at their top on the day.

“I’m pretty confident that she’s one of the good fillies heading into the Blue Diamond but obviously race-day pressure will reveal all.

“She’s very well in herself and you know when your horses are pretty spot on.”

Damien Oliver rode the filly for her impressive debut win and retains the ride on the weekend, Secret Agenda drawn a treat in barrier four while her biggest danger Fontiton has work to do out wide from gate 14.

“The draw looks perfect, Robert Smerdon was asked about Fontiton’s draw and he said it was awkward because it leaves a real question about how you ride her,” Price said.

“We could lead them, but I’ve spoken to Damien about the best way to win a Blue Diamond with her and I don’t think the best way to win a Blue Diamond with her is to lead.

“I would like to see her box seat, covered up, presented at the right time and hitting the line.

“I think she goes into the race on Saturday with a winning chance if she’s good enough. Fitness, education and soundness-wise she’s flying.”

Price also has two juvenile boys running in the $150,000 Group 3 Blue Diamond Colts & Geldings Preview (1100m) with Kirabo and Stylish Assassin drawn in barriers six and nine respectively.

Kirabo is a $34 outsider having eased out from $21 while Stylish Assassin is a strong chance in an open race paying $14 with Oliver to ride.
