Lees Rates Onemorezeta for Light Fingers Stakes 2015

11 top fillies are set to run in the Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on Saturday, including Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) winner Mossfun and Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m) winner First Seal.

With so many talented fillies in one race, you’d think the lightly-run Onemorezeta would hardly get a look in. However the Kris Lees-trained filly has seen plenty of support from punters in the past 48 hours, with her price shortening from $11 to $8.50 at Ladbrokes.com.au.

Lees himself has a high opinion of the filly, believing she could easily measure up against her fierce rivals in the 2015 Light Fingers Stakes. Even if she loses, it will be a good race to see where the lightly-raced Onemorezeta stands heading into the spring.

“She finds a really proper race. It will be a good guide to where she’s at,” Lees told Sky Racing.

Onemorezeta had an excellent spring campaign, winning all three of her starts. The filly won her maiden by two and a half lengths at Muswellbrook on September 21 and in just six weeks was lining up for her first black-type race in the Group 3 Gucci Stakes (1100m).

The filly settled nicely just behind the leading group, in the centre of the track, before improving to be fourth at the 400 metre mark. She rallied very strongly from the 100 metres and finished very well to win half a length from Eloping with Tawteen a further short half-head away in third.

“A filly like that, when they’re on the up, you don’t know where they’re going to plateau but she seems to have improved from last prep to now,” Lees said.

“She’s probably the one I feel has made the most improvement from spring to autumn.”

The 2015 Light Fingers Stakes will be Onemorezeta’s first start this campaign, however she did enjoy a jumpout at Newcastle on February 2, winning comfortably by one length.

If you think Onemorezeta has what it takes to beat home some of the country’s best three-year-old fillies and cement her place in the same field, back her at Ladbrokes.com.au today. New customers will receive a $250 bonus match on their first bet when they quote code: BETBONUS.
