The $150,000 race is one of seven Group races running in support of the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on Saturday, marking the return of Group One racing, with all runners vying for a spot in the $1 million Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) in a fortnight.

Leading the field is the Mark Riley-trained Of The Brave, who will jump from barrier 10 with Stephen Baster as jockey.

Of The Brave won his debut back in November at Caulfield, winning the Listed Inglis Debutant Stakes (1000m) won a three-quarter lengths clear of runner-up Miss Idyllic. The colt got mobile to drive underneath his rivals and lead. He kept kicking into the straight and toughed it out to draw clear.

The colt had his first official trial of the year on January 29 at Cranbourne, which he won by one length, and is the highest rated boy in the Blue Diamond futures betting at Ladbrokes.com.au, offering odds of $11.

Other last start winners in the 2015 Blue Diamond Prelude field include Bantam, Ragazzo Del Corsa, Sampeah, and Gredington.

Bantam is one of three Godolphin juveniles set to contest the race but will need to overcome a wide start from barrier 15 with Craig Williams to ride. The colt finished fifth to Prompt Return on debut in the Group 3 Maribyrnong Plate (1000m)  back in November but won the Adapt Australia Handicap three weeks later, winning just a short half-head from Miss Idyllic.

Ragazzo Del Corsa won the Better Beyond Plate (1000m) at Flemington on January 10 and will jump from barrier 14 with James Winks while Sampeah won his debut back in November at Rosehill. The second of John O’Shea runners will enjoy an inside jump from barrier four with Chad Schofield to ride.

Pat Hyland’s Greedington won his maiden at Cranbourne on January 2 but has drawn the second widest barrier to jump from.

O’Shea’s third runner Demonstrate will enjoy the inside run from barrier one with Nicholas Hall. The colt was last seen running fourth in the Listed Blue Diamond Preview (1000m) at Sandown on January 26.
