Open to mares four-years-old and over, the $150,000 Group 3 Routleys Bakery Bellmaine Stakes (1200m) rounds out a bumper nine-race program on the weekend due to jump at 6:25pm (AEDT).

A dozen final acceptors make up the field including equal highest-rated runners Bonaria and Solicit drawn in barriers four and eight respectively.

Both mares are first-up here and ran in the Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m) at Flemington back on November 1 during the spring.

Pat Hyland’s hottest Redoute’s Choice six-year-old won her maiden elite level in the Myer Classic and is looking in top form for another big season according to the Cranbourne-based Hyland who hasn’t ruled her out of a run in the $3 million Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) in Sydney during April’s The Championships.

The Mathew Ellerton & Simon Zahra-trained Solicit goes well fresh with two wins from four previous first-up runs and has also won her only other start over Saturday’s 1200m distance.

She ran fourth in the Myer Classic to her Bellmaine Stakes rival Bonaria two back before running seven days later on November 8 to cap off her spring with a fifth in a Group 3 at Flemington over 2000m where she was stretched out in distance.

Also carrying 59kg along with the top two chances in the set weights plus penalties clash is the Robert Smerdon-trained Politeness in barrier six for jockey Nicholas Hall.

The four-year-old daughter of Street Sense won her last start when on November 15 at Sandown she defeated a decent field by two lengths in the Group 3 Summoned Stakes (1500m).

She also handles less ground though boasting two wins from three previous 1200m runs leading into the Bellmaine Stakes.

The other three last start winners in the field are then the Gwenda Johnston-trained Melbourne Cup Day winner Precious Gem out wide in barrier 11, the in-form Darren Weir-trained Scarlet Billows in barrier two who has won two of her past three runs this summer and the rails-drawn Sentfromthestars.

Stablemate to one of the top hopes Solicit, Northern Meteor four-year-old Sentfromthestars won a fillies and mares-only Benchmark 70 over 1200m at Sandown-Lakeside on February 4 and makes her Caulfield debut here.

The other most notable Bellmaine Stakes acceptors include Group 3 How Now Stakes winner Girl Guide who ran sixth in the Myer Classic last start and Tycoon Tara who has won three of her past five runs in easier company.
