Of The Brave Leads 2015 Blue Diamond Prelude (C&G) Nominations

This Saturday there are two Blue Diamond Preludes running for girls and boys to get their final chance to impress before the $1 million feature race runs on February 28.

Running on CF Orr Stakes Day at Caulfield Racecourse, the Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m) for colts and geldings has attracted a strong field of 17 juveniles.

Headlining the nominations is Mark Riley’s Of The Brave, who won his debut back in October with the Listed Debutant Stakes (1000m). The colt has yet to have another start since then but did impress in a three length winning barrier trial at the end of January.

Of The Brave is also the highest rated boy in the Blue Diamond futures betting at Ladbrokes.com.au. The colt is currently on the fourth line of betting at $11, behind Fontiton ($4.40), Secret Agenda ($4.60), and Heatherly ($9) – which are all fillies.

With a bevy of homegrown juveniles in their cohort, racing giant Godolphin could dominate the field with three nominations. Their trainer John O’Shea could have his hands full in the $150,000 race in the form of Bantam, Sampeah, and Demonstrate.

Bantam finished fifth to Prompt Return on debut in the Group 3 Maribyrnong Plate (1000m) last November before winning the Adapt Australia Handicap (1000m) later that month ahead of Miss Idyllic.

Sampeah won his only start back in October, the Tab.com.au Plate (1100m), while Demonstrate just missed out on a placing in the Listed Blue Diamond Preview (1000m) for colts and geldings on January 26.

Both Mick Price and Peter Moody could deliver dual-pronged attacks on the race after nominating two juveniles each.

Price is represented in the nominations by Blue Diamond Preview minor placer Kirabo and Stylish Assassin while Peter Moody has nominated Inglis Banner (1000m) third Braccenby and debut runner Chase The Horizon.
