Fitness to Work in Inz’n’out Favour in 2015 Eskimo Prince Stakes

Three-year-old colt Inz’n’out has finished in the first three in all seven of his career starts however the Group 3 Eskimo Prince Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill on Saturday will be his first black-type race.

Inz'n'out is fit enough for the Eskimo Prince Stakes but is it enough to combat his lack of class.

Trainer Gerald Ryan readily admits to throwing Inz’n’out into the deep end but believes his fitness level will make up for his lack of class.

“Inz’n’out is very honest and very consistent,” Ryan told Sky Racing.

“I don’t know if he has the class of these horses but he has fitness on his side.”

Inz’n’out has raced in two Benchmark 72s and one Benchmark 75 this campaign, finishing second or third in all three. The colt missed out on victory in the Hyland Race Colours Handicap (1200m) first up by just a short-head after being run down in the shadows of the post.

He took off too soon and was run down at Canterbury on Australia Day with Brenton Avdulla in the saddle, which Ryan admits wasn’t the best performance by the pair. However following a suspension, James McDonald will serve as jockey for the first time in the 2015 Eskimo Prince Stakes.

“I was a bit disappointed in the ride,” the trainer said.

“He took off too soon and got run down.

“But Brenton has been riding really well and it’s a shame he has got this suspension.”

While Inz’n’out may be at his peak fitness level, it remains to be seen whether he can hold his own against the likes of Group One placegetters Scissor Kick and Delecation, who headline the ten entries for the Eskimo Prince Stakes.

Paul Messara’s Scissor Kick is the highest rated nomination after finishing second in both the Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) and Group 2 Stan Fox Stakes (1500m) during the spring while Delectation is the best of four runners nominated by Chris Waller. The gelding was runner-up to Brazen Beau last time out in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m).

The 2015 Eskimo Prince Stakes final field is due to be released on Wednesday with betting markets opening soon after.
