Rescheduled after a wash-out from last weekend, this summer’s $100,000 Listed Evergreen Turf Nudgee Fillies and Mares Handicap (1200m) is due to jump at 4:05pm (QLD time) as race eight.

Twelve female gallopers are engaged in the clash including seven currently at single figures in the latest Fillies and Mares Handicap odds at

Narrow early favourite at $4.50 is the widely-drawn Breakfast In Bed due to jump from barrier 10 with top hoop Jim Byrne in the saddle with 58kg.

Toby Edmonds’ Gold Coast-based Hussonet mare ran dead last first-up in late November’s Listed Tattersall’s Classic over this track and distance but has been on the improve since on softer tracks.

Two back she was runner-up behind Tarloshan in the Listed Just Now Quality (1350m) on a Soft (6) Doomben course before winning at home on a Soft (7) in a Benchmark 85 for fillies and mares over 1400m on December 27.

She goes up from 56.5kg this weekend however and is also back in black-type company with a wide barrier over a shorter sprint distance, but the rain-affected ground is set to suit.

Following most closely in the markets are then Queen Of The Lochs ($5.50) and Tukiyo ($6) both drawn well in barriers three and one respectively.

The Mick Mair-trained Bradbury’s Luck grey Queen Of The Lochs is down from the Sunshine Coast and comes off back-to-back seconds this month, most recently at home over 1400m.

Like Breakfast In Bed, the four-year-old drops from 1400m to 1200m for this but she boasts a nice record over the distance of two wins and three seconds from six starts.

Tukiyo is then a Glen Colless mount carrying the 59kg top weight here, the Lacey Morrison-trained Haradasun five-year-old looking to improve on her 12th behind Endless Shadow at the Gold Coast in the Magic Millions Fillies & Mares Handicap (1300m) from January 10.

The next best in the Nudgee Fillies & Mares Handicap markets are aforementioned Magic Millions F&M Handicap winner Endless Shadow ($7) prepared by Peter Hulbert, early market mover Pickabee ($8) in from $10 and Caprossa ($8) coming off a close fourth over 1300m at Randwick from earlier this month.

Dual Heavy track winner from four starts in the mud Little Brown Horse in barrier two with the second heaviest weight of 58.5kg then rounds out the single figure hopes before the market finally opens up.
