The $500,000 Australian Guineas will run at Flemington Racecourse on March 7 and includes the likes of Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) winner Shooting To Win and Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) winner Amicus among its large and varied entries.

Peter & Paul Snowden’s Shooting To Win has finished in the first three in six of his seven starts. The three-year-old enjoyed back-to-back wins at the end of the spring, winning the Group 2 Stan Fox Stakes (1500m) on his way to the Guineas.

He is one of four nominations for the premier Sydney trainers, who have also nominated Blademeister, Group 3 Gloaming Stakes (1800m) runner-up Diamond Valores, and Veloce Forte.

Chris Waller’s Amicus has likewise placed in six of her seven career starts, though the Thousand Guineas on October 11 was just the second win for the filly.

Amicus is one of 10 entries for Waller. The top Sydney trainers other nominations include: Bascule, Delectation, Harrier Jet, Kermadec, Law, Preferment, Quick Strike, Wine Tales, and Winx.

Delectable was runner-up to Brazen Beau in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington back in November but is opting to tackle the mile first-up in the autumn instead of the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) the following week.

Kermadec won the Group 3 Carbine Club Stakes (1600m) during the spring, Preferment took out the Group 1 Victoria Derby (2500m), and Winx was runner-up in the Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m).

David Hayes & Tom Dabernig have nominated Hong Kong Captain for the Australian Guineas after the gelding won the Vobis Gold Star (1500m) on Saturday.

His next start will be in the Group 3 CS Hayes Stakes (1400m) on February 21, with the Australian Guineas to potentially follow.

Hayes & Dabernig have a further 13 entries to their names, including Afleet Esprit, Firehouse Rock, Group 2 Sandown Guineas (1600m) runner-up Petrology, and Shaf.

Three-year-old filly Afleet Esprit has been dually nominated for both the Australian Guineas and Newmarket Handicap.

The 122 total entries for the 2015 Australian Guineas is up from 85 last year, 76 the year before, and 113 in 2012.
