Queensland Oaks May Figure for Career

Returning to racing in competitive form this time in, Racing Manager of Godolphin Australia Jason Walsh revealed classy three-year-old Career may target the featured Group 1 Queensland Oaks (2400m) over the 2015 Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival.

Introduced to racing by the late, great trainer Guy Walter, Career has progressed favourably over three starts this preparation, taking well to a continual and gradual step-up in class and distance.

Running a credible third in a minor over 1600m at Gosford most recently on January 9th, Walsh told Racing Ahead trainer John O’Shea has been thrilled with the form and class displayed by the daughter of New Approach this season and believes the 2015 Queensland Oaks figures as a perfect target for the three-year-old this year.

“She’s very genuine. She’s only a small, pretty little thing,” Walsh said.

“John’s very happy with how she’s progressed at home and thinks she’s profiling up as a genuine staying prospect for the middle of the year and beyond.

“Guy Walter didn’t mind her when he trained her either as a young two-year-old.

“She battled away quite well at the provincials last time and she was very strong on the line so we’re expecting when she gets more out to a trip she’ll show a bit of the promise that she’s showing John at home.

“We had that discussion during the week and that’s certainly John’s view (2015 Queensland Oaks).

“No doubt she’s got to progress a long way from where she is now but he’s very confident that she’s capable of doing so.”

Running sixth in the ITC Corporate Members Race Day Maiden (1400m) on debut in July before immediately returning to the paddock, Career placed fourth in the Divalls Earthmoving Handicap (1300m) and broke through for a maiden victory in the Star Family Buffet Plate (1400m) in her only other start prior to her Gosford third.
