12 sprint-mile runners are set to tackle the Carrington Stakes, five of which are offering single figure odds in the betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au.

Leading the charge is Chris Waller’s She’s Clean at $3.80. The six-year-old mare is one of three horses saddled by the top Sydney trainer in the race and had plenty on a Benchmark 95 over the same track and distance as the 2015 Carrington Stakes, winning a comfortable four lengths ahead of Boomwaa.

She’s Clean is down in the weights (54.5kg) and will jump midfield with Kerrin McEvoy to ride. Is this enough to warrant her favouritism? Or will one of the 11 other runners usurp the top spot?

Check out our betting tips for the 2015 Carrington Stakes below.

#1 Spurtonic ($6.50)

Gai Waterhouse’s Spurtonic is a last start winner of the Magic Millions Cup (1400m) at the Gold Coast on January 10 where the gelding overcame a wide start from barrier 11 to win a head in front of Strawberry Boy. Has once again drawn barrier 11 for the Carrington Stakes but should be able to be right in the finish once again. The five-year-old has won his two starts over the distance and one of his two starts at Randwick.

#3 Ninth Legion ($5.50)

Team Hawkes’ five-year-old gelding will enjoy the inside jump from barrier one and will likely run a big, fresh race following a three month spell. Ninth Legion enjoyed minor success during the spring, finishing third in both the Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes (1400m) and Group 2 Shannon Stakes (1500m) before running fourth in the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m), which means he’s got a lot of class against this field. Has finished first three in eight of his nine starts over the trip.

#5 That’s A Good Idea ($4.40)

Looks like the likely leader of the race as he jumps from barrier ten with Hugh Bowman to ride and will take plenty of running down. Has won two of his three starts at the distance but hasn’t raced over the journey since October 2013 and has also placed in three of his five starts at Randwick. The Peter & Paul Snowden-trained gelding is a last start runner-up of the Listed Takeover Target Stakes (1200m), missing out on victory to Ball Of Muscle by just a nose.
