12 sprint-mile runners will tackle the Carrington Stakes, half of which are offering single figure odds in the betting market at

Topping the odds is Chris Waller’s She’s Clean. The market mover opened the betting as $4 favourite and has seen her price firm to $3.90 since then.

She’s Clean has won three of her seven starts on the Randwick track and placed in eight of her twelve starts over 1400 metres. The six-year-old mare is a last start winner of a Benchmark 95 at Randwick on January 10. She will jump from barrier six with Kerrin McEvoy to ride.

She’s Clean is one of three horses set to be saddled by Waller in the 2015 Carrington Stakes along with Heart Testa ($9) and Eigelstein ($31).

Five-year-old gelding Heart Testa just missed out on a placing in the Listed Canterbury Classic (1200m) last time out on December 27 while Eigelstein was last in a Benchmark 95.

With four other single figure hopefuls in the Carrington Stakes betting market, She’s Clean’s win is nowhere near assured.

  • #5 That’s A Good Idea ($4.40)Peter & Paul Snowden’s five-year-old gelding is on the second line of betting in the Carrington Stakes after finishing runner-up in the Listed Takeover Target Stakes (1200m) on January 9. The gelding has won two of his three 1400m starts and has run at Randwick on five occasions.
  • #1 Spurtonic ($5.50) – the Gai Waterhouse-trained Spurtonic is the last start winner of the Magic Millions Cup (1400m) at the Gold Coast on January 10 and has proven that time away from the track in barrier trials proved to work in his favour. He won from a wide gate last time out and should be able to do it again on Saturday.
  • #3 Ninth Legion ($5.50)Team Hawkes’ gelding will enjoy the inside start from barrier one with James McDonald to ride. The five-year-old enjoyed minor placings in the Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes (1400m) and Group 2 Shannon Stakes (1500m) during the spring and will run first-up in the Carrington Stakes after three months in the spelling paddock.
  • #4 Scream Machine ($9.50)Jason Coyle’s six-year-old gelding is the final single figure hopeful after finishing second in the December Handicap (1550m) last time out. Scream Machine will jump from barrier nine with champion hoop Tommy Berry to ride.
