2015 Miss Andretti Stakes Field & Barrier Draw

Perth will play host to its own black-type race this weekend with the Listed Miss Andretti Stakes (1200m) running at Ascot Racecourse.

12 sprinters have accepted for the race, led by Grant WilliamsShining Knight.

The six-year-old gelding has finished in the first three in four of his five past starts, which includes a minor placing in the Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) at the beginning of the summer carnival on November 22.

He followed it up with a win in the small fielded Listed RS Crawford Stakes (1000m) followed by back-to-back second placings in the Listed Summer Scorcher (1000m) and Listed Scenic Blast Stakes (1100m).

Shining Knight will carry the top weight of 59kg (on par with his past three starts) and jump from barrier eight with William Pike as jockey.

Daniel Morton will deliver a dual-pronged attack on the race in the form of Soldier’s Lass and Zester.

Five-year-old mare Soldier’s Lass finished third behind Cool Trade in the Scenic Blast Stakes last time out and will jump from barrier five while Zester will jump from barrier seven.

The eight-year-old gelding hasn’t been seen since the spring. He enjoyed a minor placing in the Listed Goodwood Sprint (1300m) on August 23 followed by unplaced runs in both the Listed Farnley Stakes (1400m) and Listed Hannahs Handicap (1400m).

Neville Parnham’s Lenience will enjoy the inside jump from barrier one with Ms Jerry Noske to ride while the Vaughn Sigley-trained Dawn Approach will be one gate out.

The four-year-old gelding has had three starts in the past three weeks, winning both a Benchmark 72 and handicap.

Cavallo Pazzo will try to turn around three end of the field finishes his past three times out as he jumps from barrier ten with Peter Knuckey, Scenic Blast winner Cool Trade will jump from barrier six with usual hoop Patrick Carbery, and Group 3 RJ Peters Stakes (1500m) third Trading Day will get the ideal start from barrier three.
