2015 Hobart Guineas Field & Barrier Draw

The Listed Hobart Guineas (2100m) has attracted a field of 11 potential stayers to tackle the middle-distance race this Saturday.

Half siblings Geegees Goldengirl, Geegees Classicboy, and Geegees Brightstar are all set to take each other on after each horse’s respective trainers accepted on Wednesday.

Stuart Gandy’s Geegees Goldengirl is the highest rated nominee after finishing runner-up in the Listed Tasmania Guineas (1600m) on January 11. The three-year-old filly has finished in the first three in nine of her twelve career starts and will get a good start from barrier four with Ms Sigrid Carr to ride.

The John Luttrell-trained Geegees Classicboy was eighth in the same race and will have to overcome a start from the widest gate in the 2015 Hobart Guineas while Geegees Brightstar just missed out on a placing and will get an ideal start from barrier two with Daniel Ganderton.

Jerome Hunter’s Warrior Of Fire will enjoy the rails run after drawing barrier one. This is a good advantage for the gelding who has finished in the first three in just one of his seven career starts.

Peter Moody is one of only two trainers along with Hunter venturing across the strait, accepting with Fifty Eight Facets in the Hobart Guineas.

The three-year-old filly based at Caulfield has placed in all five of her career starts but didn’t win her maiden until January 7 at Sandown. As one of just two fillies lining-up on Saturday, Fifty Eight Facets will carry the 55kg minimum and jump from barrier eight. Regan Bayliss has retained the ride after the pair won earlier this month.
