2015 Racing Minister’s 2YO Classic Betting Tips

Punters that aren’t ready to give up on the Magic Millions this week should cast their eyes to the Sunshine Coast for the Racing Minister’s 2YO Classic (1200m) on Saturday.

The race is set to be action packed as $2 million Magic Millions Classic runner-up Pepperano backs-up to contest the juvenile sprint race alongside 14 other two-year-olds.

Pepperano is the $2.50 firm favourite in the betting at Ladbrokes.com.au along with just three other single figure hopefuls.

With $150,000 plus both QTIS scheme and Magic Millions bonuses on offer, the 2015 Racing Minister’s Classic is set to be an exciting race.

It can be hard to correctly back a winner in a race like this seeing as the majority of the field is green so check out our tips below to bet confidently.

#11 Pepperano ($2.50)

You really can’t look past the favourite in this case. Liam Birchley’s Pepperano gave a gutsy run in the Magic Millions Classic last Saturday despite a wide draw, finishing just three quarters of a length behind winner Le Chef and pocketing a cool $400,000 for her efforts. The filly will get a much better start this time around from barrier six instead of 12, carry the same weight, and partner jockey Damian Brown returns. Pepperano will have to back-up from the busy Magic Millions Day but Birchley isn’t worried. With her price firming from $2.80, neither are the punters.

#3 Mishani Honcho ($5.50)

Les Ross’ two-year-old gelding is one of only three last start winners on the field and his win happens to come from the impressive Group 3 BJ McLachlan Plate (1200m) at the Gold Coast on December 27, where he beat home three of his Racing Minister’s Classic rivals. The colt will jump from the middle of the field in barrier seven with Chris Whiteley to ride and has won his two starts over the distance.

#8 Flamenco Girl ($21)

Danny Bougoure’s filly is a great outside bet for punters with fixed-price odds of $21 to win or $5.70 to place. The filly is one of just five runners who have run at the Sunshine Coast before and one of three winners after taking out her maiden in November. She followed it up with a runner-up finish in the Listed Calaway Gal Stakes (1050m), narrowly missing out on victory to Flemenco. The filly was a disappointing seventh in the BJ McLachlan Plate but can easily turn it around on Saturday. The Magic Millions Classic emergency will get an ideal jump from barrier two with Glen Colless.
