Ottoman Tops Tight Early 2015 Golden Slipper Odds

As the first Group races of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival approach the futures odds on the features including the Golden Slipper 2015 start to become clearer with Ottoman early favourite for the two-year-old’s feature.

The richest race for the age group in the world, the $3.5 million Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes (1400m) runs at Rosehill Gardens this autumn earlier than previous years on March 21.

Sitting top of the current all-in Golden Slipper odds at Ladbrokes.com.au at a quote of $8 is the John O’Shea-trained Exceed And Excel filly Ottoman who won her debut at the Rosehill track.

Also a top chance for Melbourne’s $1 million Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) in late February, she ran first-up on December 20 in the $85,000 TAB Place Multi Plate (1100m) and was able to beat home Miss Idyllic to score as the odds-on $1.30 favourite.

Following closely in the tight futures Golden Slipper betting markets is then the only other single figure hope at this stage, one time favourite and fellow O’Shea-trained entry Furnaces ($9).

Also representing racing powerhouse Godolphin, Exceed And Excel colt Furnaces is another winner on debut having scored by an all-too-easy six and a quarter lengths at Rosehill over 1100m back in late October.

The next best fancied are then 2015 Blue Diamond Stakes favourite Fontiton ($10) for Robert Smerdon, the Turffontein filly winning the Inglis 2YO Banner by six lengths on debut at Moonee Valley last Cox Plate Day.

Two chances follow on $13 with the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Rosehill winning colt Paceman and Listed Breeders Plate winner over the Randwick 1000m Vancouver for five-time Golden Slipper winning trainer Gai Waterhouse.

Four others then finish off those under $26 in betting with Waterhouse’s Snitzel filly Giulietta ($17), Blue Diamond-bound Secret Agenda ($17), Breeders Plate runner-up Sooboog ($17) and Listed Gimcrack Stakes winning Lonhro filly Calaverite ($19) for Godolphin.

The next round of declarations is the 2015 Golden Slipper second acceptances closing at 3pm (AEDT) on Tuesday February 3 incurring a $1000 fee.

Late entries are then open until 11am (AEDT) on the Monday prior to the race with a hefty $150,000 final fee for any connections wanting to roll the dice.
