Five-year-old Peace Force is one of 12 fillies and mares nominated for the Group 3 Belle Of The Turf Stakes (1600m) at Gosford Racecourse on Friday, with trainer Gerald Ryan keen to nab a black type race win for the in-form mare.
Peace Force will aim to win her fourth consecutive race with the 2015 Belle Of The Turf Stakes after winning three Benchmark races since November.
The mare has finished in the first three in six of her seven starts this campaign and after winning a Benchmark 75 over 1550m at Kensington, a Benchmark 80 over 1400m at Royal Randwick, and a Benchmark 80 over 1550m at Canterbury her past three times out, Ryan believes she has what it takes to step up in class and make her debut in a black type race.
“Being a half sister to Eremein she already has the pedigree but it would be great to get some black type for her and her owners,” Ryan told Sky Racing.
“She is just such a tough mare and she is a winner.”
Peace Force has beaten the Chris Waller-trained Mamwaazel in their past two meetings, including an impressive two length victory at Randwick on December 13. Ryan’s mare rushed over from the wide gate after 200 metres to take the lead. She controlled the race from the front leading by one length at the turn before going for home 300m out and roared away for an easy win.
The pair look likely to face off for the third time on Friday after Waller nominated three horses for the Belle Of The Turf Stakes, including Mamwaazel. Gosh and She’s Clean make up the trio.
“She’s Clean is coming back from Melbourne to run and Mamwaazel will also be there,” Waller noted.
Nominations for the 2015 Belle Of The Turf Stakes have been extended until 11:00AM Tuesday morning (AEDT) with the final field and barrier draw to be released on Wednesday.
