2015 Magic Millions 3YO Guineas Barrier Draw: Hijack Hussy in Six

Hijack Hussy remains the three-year-old to beat in the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas 2015 at the Gold Coast Racecourse this weekend after the Tony Gollan-trained filly drew well in barrier six.

Clear favourite at Ladbrokes.com.au both pre and now post-barrier draw, the Brisbane-based daughter of Hussonet is one of a capacity 16-starters plus five emergencies making up the field for this year’s $820,000 $1 million Jeep Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m) on Saturday.

Timothy Bell retains the ride after being aboard for three of her past four runs, including a win over this track and distance from a wide barrier 10 of 11 draw back in October.

After that she won the Listed Lexus Hybrid Plate (1400m) at Flemington on New Year’s Day with Michael Rodd aboard before Bell jumped back on.

Her latest two runs were both losses however that she’s out to atone for this weekend when third to Savoureux in the Listed Mode Plate (1200m) at Doomben and then second when a long-neck off Mywayorthehighway as the beaten favourite in the Gold Coast’s Group 3 Vo Rogue Plate (1300m) on December 27.

She should appreciate getting back out over the 1400m, a distance she is undefeated over, and from the nice barrier she’s the one to beat in Magic Millions Guineas betting at Ladbrokes.com.au.

Gollan has also accepted for three of Hijack Hussy’s stablemates in the race with roughies Fixation and Yeager drawn well in barriers three and two, while last start Doomben winner from New Year’s Day Vienna Royale is out in 12 for jockey Tegan Harrison.

Along with Hijack hussy, Testashadow is also still well liked at the top of the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas odds despite Gary Portelli’s Sydney-based gelding drawing wider in barrier 13.

With all five of the emergencies drawn in barrier 10 or wider, Testashadow will only come in one to 12 if they fail to gain a run.

How he handles the outside run will be key to his chances after his inside alleys of late including at Rosehill on December 20 when he won the $85,000 Cellarbrations Handicap (1400m0 narrowly from gate two.

The other single figure hope getting early love from the punters is then the Gerald Ryan-trained Flying Spur filly Aerobar who has drawn to perfection with barrier four.

She has won two of her eight starts so far including a smart effort from December 18 in the Wyong Magic Millions 3YO Stakes (1200m) where she beat home the Gai Waterhouse-trained Echo Gal by one and a quarter lengths from barrier five.

Echo Gal had gate two that day while narrow third placegetter Cyclone for Bjorn Baker was also drawn well in barrier three.

Both back-up again in the Gold Coast edition taking on Aerobar with Group 1 performed Stratum filly Echo Gal drawn in nine and Sebring gelding Cyclone to get the inside run from barrier one.

Other Magic Millions 3YO Guineas hopes with good barriers include Mick Mair’s upset Vo Rogue Plate winner Mywayorthehighway in eight and Mode Plate runner-up Tales Of Fashion with five following a fifth in the Vo Rogue last time out.

As for others in wider barriers David Payne’s Bernardini colt Bold Circle (17), last seen winning over 1200m at Randwick from January 1, is sure to ease out in the markets as is the lightly-raced Wyong Magic Millions fifth placed Murt The Flirt (19).
