2015 Magic Millions 3YO Guineas Field Features Hijack Hussy

Hijack Hussy is the red hot favourite in a capacity field of eligible three-year-olds facing off in the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas 2015 on the Gold Coast this weekend.

The Tony Gollan-trained daughter of Hussonet has won three of her nine career starts to date and shoots for a fourth as the top fancy through Ladbrokes.com.au in this Saturday’s $820,000 $1 million Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m).

She’s twice been out over the 1400m and has won both of those assignments, including a win at the track and distance from a wide barrier 10 of 11 draw here in early October.

After that she won the Listed Lexus Hybrid Stakes (1400m) at Flemington a month later on Melbourne Cup Day, but the filly has lost her past two black-type starts.

Her first defeat was a third to Savoureux in the listed Mode Stakes (1200m) at Doomben before she went down a long-neck to upset winner Mywayorthehighway in the Group 3 Vo Rogue Plate (1300m) at the Gold Coast on December 27.

Timothy Bell retains the ride for the Magic Millions Guineas, the barrier draw for which takes place on Tuesday morning.

Group 1 winning Brisbane trainer Gollan has a stranglehold over the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas field numbers-wise as well this summer having accepted for three other hopefuls.

Hijack Hussy is joined in the field by her stablemates Fixation, Vienna Royale and Yeager who are all outside chances in betting.

The best fancied of the trio paying around $26 for an upset is Tegan Harrison’s mount Vienna Royale, the Falvelon gelding coming off a 1200m win at Doomben from New Year’s Day.

The only other hope under $10 in the latest markets for the restricted feature meanwhile is Sydney raider Testashadow, a Tim Clark ride prepared at Warwick Farm by Gary Portelli.

The gelding comes off a narrow win at Rosehill when diving late to take out the Cellarbrations Handicap (1400m), his second victory over the distance from four starts.

There is a host of other last start winners in the race also shooting for back-to-back victories including the Gerald Ryan-trained Aerobar for former New Zealand jockey James McDonald.

A three-year-old daughter of Flying Spur, she improved on some disappointing form in November to bounce back at Wyong and beat home Echo Gal (2nd) and Cyclone (3rd) in the Magic Millions 3YO Stakes over 1200m.

She’s up in distance here but has class and is on the improve.

Both Wyong Magic Millions Stakes runner-up Echo Gal from the Sydney stables of Gai Waterhouse and Cyclone also back-up in the Gold Coast edition on Saturday.

Stratum filly Echo Gal is Group 1 performed having run fifth to First Seal in the Flight Stakes over a mile at Randwick in October.

Cyclone meanwhile is prepared by Kiwi expat Bjorn Baker, the grey Sebring gelding beaten one and a half lengths at Wyong.

Money has also been steady for another last start winner, Bold Circle, after the David Payne-trained Bernardini colt won over 1200m at Randwick on New Year’s Day in a come-from-behind effort that was full of merit.

The least experienced of the Magic Millions Guineas hopes with only two starts leading up to the weekend’s clash is the Brendan McCarthy-trained Murt The Flirt.

He won at Ballarat on debut in November before running fifth when still beaten under two lengths in the Wyong Magic Millions 3YO Stakes that could prove the form line to follow into the Gold Coast.

Other notable Magic Millions 3YO Guineas acceptors include local Real Saga filly Stroak out to improve on a seventh in the Vo Rogue, upset winner of that race Mywayorthehighway prepared on the Sunshine Coast by Mick Mair and Sam Kavanagh’s emergency runner I Am Zelady who the bookies are taking no chances with.

See below for the full field and jockeys with the barrier draw to be published tomorrow morning.

Before then you can lock in top prices on your favourite Magic Millions three-year-olds online at Ladbrokes.com.au where your first deposit will also be matched by the house dollar for dollar up to $250 as a bonus welcome bet when you enter the code BETBONUS this summer!
