The Group 3 Summer Cup (2000m) headlines a full day’s card of racing this Friday, with 15 potential stayers nominating for the $125,000 Boxing Day feature race on Monday morning.

Top Sydney trainer Chris Waller will deliver a triple-pronged attack on the race with I’m Imposing, Hoylonny, and Multilateral all featuring among the nominations. The trainer confirmed to Sky Racing this morning that all three will definitely run.

“All three will run. I’m Imposing will get a lot of weight which will make it hard,” Waller said.

“But he is in such good form he should go there.

“Hoylonny is Hoylonny while Mulilateral should improve going up to 2000 metres.

“And rain would certainly help him.”

I’m Imposing leads the nominations, and like Waller said will likely carry the top weight, after winning the Listed Festival Stakes (1500m) on November 29 before finishing runner-up in the Group 2 Villiers Stakes (1600m) on December 13. The nine-year-old gelding proved he’s still got it in him to deliver results, turning around a disappointing second last finish in the Group 1 Emirates Stakes (1600m) at the end of the spring.

Six-year-old Hoylonny won the Dooleys Handicap (1800m) back in August but since then has finished end of the field in all three of his starts while Multilateral finished midfield in the Festival Stakes before running back of the field in the Villiers Stakes.

The Tony McEvoy-trained Pelicano is the second highest-rated nominee. The six-year-old gelding won the Listed Werribee Cup (2600m) last December but was sidelined for 12 months before returning to finish midfield in the Villiers Stakes.

Another four horses are coming via the 2014 Villiers Stakes – Kaypers (12th), Keep Cool (14th), Midsummer Sun (10th), and Scream Machine (5th).

The Peter Moody-trained Metaphorical is in good form ahead of the 2014 Summer Cup, finishing in the first three in her past four starts. The four-year-old mare finished runner-up in the Listed ATC Cup (2000m) on November 29 before scoring a minor placing in the Listed Christmas Cup (2400m) despite finishing over eight lengths behind winner Saigon Tea.
