Racing stable Godolphin has such a diverse range of juvenile horses in its possession at the moment and considering they breed their own racing stock many sales-restricted races like the Magic Millions are unavailable to run in.
This means they have to look even harder for an appropriate race for each horse and not double them up. That’s why the royal blue silks of Sheikh Mohammaed will be spotted at both Rosehill Gardens and Flemington this Saturday.
“We’ve got so many of them and we’ve got another 25 or 26 trialling next week,” assistant trainer Darren Beadman told Sky Racing about the juvenile team.
“With the Magic Millions and Inglis races, it restricts what we can run them in.”
Ottoman will run in the TAB Place Multi Plate (1100m) in Sydney while Bosnia will line up in the Christmas Season Plate (1000m) in Melbourne.
Both will be making their debut on Saturday after winning their respective barrier trials at Warwick Farm on December 9.
Ottoman’s natural ability has led her to lead the Tab Place Multi Plate betting at Ladbrokes.com.au, in which she is the $2 firm favourite, and the filly is considered one of Godolphin’s better juveniles with a professional attitude to match.
“She’s among our top 15 or 20 two-year-olds so far,” Beadman said.
“She still has a long way to go but everything she’s done to date suggests she’s a real progressive type.
“She’s very athletic and she seems to take everything in her stride – everything John has done with her she has accepted well.”
Bosnia is also favourite to win his race, offering odds of $2.70 in the Christmas Season Plate betting market at Ladbrokes.com.au.
